Taking Jiading district, Shanghai as the study area, this paper has studied some essential problems on modeling land used change at the views of time and space, including sptatil-temporal land use data collection and acquisition, land use data processing and quality control, land use change process, causes and driving forces, and land use change models. The main work and outcomes of this paper are as follow:1. On the basis of the analysis of the background, progress and methods of land use / cover change (LUCC) research on the world, the main contents and methods in this paper is proposed for focusing on spatial-temporal land use data capture and quality control, and land use / cover change (LUCC) modeling and analysis in Jiading district, Shanghai.2. The methods for collection and acquisition of multi-source based spatial-temporal land use data in Jiading district are presented. Based on the investigation of multi-source data including field survey data from GPS and electronic total station, GIS data from map digitization, and population and socio-economic data from statistical inspection, the paper studies the classification of land use data from remote sensing imagery. After comparison of conventional methods of remote sensing image classification, an optimization algorithm is proposed based on neural networks and genetic algorithms for remote sensing image classification. The resluts of the experiments in the classification of land use remote sensing image in Jiading illustrate that the optimization algorithm has higher precise and better effectiveness. Further, the land use data from remote sensing image classification will be as fundamental data for land use change modeling.3. Accuracy analysis and error processing for land use spatial-temporal data are studied in Jiading district. Since land use data acquisition and quality control for these data are key problems on land use change research. Through the analysis of the sources of land use change data in Jiading, the paper focuses on the logic consistency...
