In the last few years, upconversion lasers have been paid more and more attention, which mainly attribute to the unnecessary phase matched condition, the simple structure, the entire solidification, and the inexpensive price. There are mainly two kinds of material used to study up-conversion lasers: the optics crystal or non-crystal doped with rare earth ion and the organic luminescent material. This paper studies optical qualities of the rare earth doped ion optics crystal and the organic dye laser, and discusses the characteristic and mechanism of the upconversion laser material.Regarding Pr3+: Y2Si05 crystal: (1) Firstly, we have studied its absorption spectrum, fluorescent spectrum, excited spectrum, fluorescent lifetimes of different energy level and different density. We also measure the fluorescentspectrum of level 4f5d,3P0,1D2 and study the corresponding transitions. Usinglaser with wavelength 260 nm, 460 nm 600nm to excite the crystal Pr3+: Y2Si05, measuring the fluorescence spectrum of samples with three different densities under room temperature, where the measure domain is 270-770nm. The fluorescent spectrum peak values by 4f5d excitation are 276nnm, 279nm, 303nm, 543nm , 570nm , 602nm , 632nm, and the corresponding transitions are4f5d→3H5, 4f5d→3H6, 4f5d→3F2, 3P0→3H4, 3P0→3H5, 3P0→3H6,3P0→3F2. The fluorescent spectrum peak values by 3P0 excitation are 280nm, 311nm, 326nnm, 493nm, 552 nm, 621 nm, 652 nm, 658 nm, 663nm, and the corresponding transitions are 4f5d→3H5, 4f5d→3H6, 4f5d→3F4, 3P0→3H4,...
