Quantum entanglement is not only one of the most striking features of quantum mechanics, but also can be regarded as an efficient resource for quantum teleportation, quantum densing, quantum cryptography and quantum computation. In the past few years, a large number of experiments have shown that quantum computation and quantum communication are more powerful and efficient in many respects than their classical counterparts. The perspective of quantum information theory also provides further new insights into the relationship between entanglement and non-locality.In the rapidly developing field of quantum information, investigation of quantum entanglement is always a very active area. Research is done on the production of multi-particle entanglement, on the manipulation of entanglement and its relation to the non-locality. In this thesis, my main research work as a doctoral graduate is outlined as follows:? We compare several existing schemes and present a new scheme for engineering three-photon entangled states. The important difference between our scheme and the existing ones is that one can engineer the maximally three-photon entangled states by combining some nonlinear interaction with entanglement purification.? We present an improved scheme for quantum teleportation with three-photon GHZ states. We show that, the quantum state can be teleported more efficiently than the previous scheme and the scheme is easily extended to quantum teleportation with non-maximally three-photon entangled states.? As main part of thesis, we first overview the schemes of existing...
