Escherichia coli (E.coli in brief) is the normal flora in the intestinal tract of human and animals. Under normal circumstances, it will not cause illness. But when the resistance of body reduces or in case it intrudes into the tissue outside of the intestine, it can incur infection outside of intestinal tract as opportunistic pathogen, and some serological type of escherichia coli can incur intestinal tract infections as well. The Escherichia colies that incur intestinal tract infections are generally referred to as pathogenic E.coli, including 5 types, i.e. .enterotoxigenic E.coli (ETEC), enteropathogenic E.coli (EPEC), enterohemorrhagic E.coli (EHEC) and enteroadherent E.coli (EAEC).Pathogenic E.coli is one of the most common pathogenic bacteria in the medicine clinical and veterinary clinical infections. The enterotoxigenic E.coli, enterohemorrhagic E.coli and 0157: H7 serological type of escherichia coli often causes human and livestock infections and their spreads. According to the statistics, there are 650 million people in the world suffer from fever annually because of contracting enterotoxigenic E.coli, and about 800,000 children under the age of 5 died of such infection. In many districts and areas in the country, E.coli takes the top place of pathogen spectrum of diarrhea patients. Damages caused by E.coli in veterinary clinics are also very serious. Common ailments such as piglet bloody flux, pig bowel edema, poultry E.coli illness, etc. have long been the problems troubling the development of animal farming industries.
