The structure and species of different moso bamboo communities were investigated at the main distributed area of moso bamboo forest in Yong-an city, Fu Jian province. With the characterization and relationship between structure and species diversity analyzed, the results could serve for the management of bamboo forest well. By the study on structure and diversity, the main results were showed below:1 The structure of moso bambooi With the approach of calculous, the models were built about relationships of relative diameter, relative accumulated apperant volume, relative accumulated real volume, and relative accumulated node volume with relative height of moso bamboo stem, and about relationships of apperant volume, real volume and node volume with DBH (diameter of breast height) of moso bamboo stem. The correlation coefficients of those models were large and those models were feasible to be used.ii The correlations were significant generally between density, evenness , uniformity, mean crowding , leaf area index, volume of timber and semi-variance sill of bamboo forest. That showed the factors of structure could influence each other greatly.iii There was a scale effect approved on evenness of bamboo forest, owe to the variance of evenness at the same plot of bamboo forest at different scale. So, the index of evenness was not suitable to judge the distributed type of bamboo forest.iv The spatial pattern was researched with the index of mean crowding and semi-variance which were wonderful to show status quo of bamboo forest truly for the first time. So, it was necessary to lucubrate the spatial pattern with semi-variance and mean crowding.
