The high research degree of physical geology, hydrogeology, engineering geology andenvironmental geology in Suxichang Area, makes large number of achievements and dataduring many years accumulated. However, No full application of these data andachievements mainly result from failing to establish a perfect computer informationautomatic management system,which makes it difficult and puzzled to search these dataand results effectively. Large effort research shows that the main reason of SuxichangArea's land subsidence is due to excessive exploitation of groundwater. The occurrence ofland crack is the results of the asymmetry land subsidence. Therefore, application the 3Stechnology in studying these problems is a realistic and tough matter for expertise.Recently GIS as a newly-developed technology for dealing and storing spatialinformation has been wildly used in a various fields, geology field without exception. AsGIS involved many subjects such as computer science, geography and meteorology, GISapplication in geology field is just underway especially in land subsidence research.Based on the knowledge and demands above, it is necessary and urgent to establish aspecial GIS application system ,which is composed of professional base models (base rockstructural model, structural model of Quaternary deposition) and professional applicationmodels (groundwater aquifers system structural model, land subsidence forecast andanalysis model).Based on this GIS platform,"Management Information System of landsubsidence in Suxichang Area",it can deal with and analyze the magnificent multi-originalgeological information visually. This thesis gives a conclusion of the feasibility ofestablishing management information system of the land subsidence in Suxichang Areabased on the ArcGIS, and make a further study on the objects, demands, data, functionsconstruction of this system, bring forward the total designing project, developing modes...
