Located in the arid area of northwest China, Tarim River, the longest inland River of China, has the characteristics of abundant natural resources and fragile ecological environment and is noted for its distinctive local features and serious environmental problems. In recent 50 years, under the disturbance by mankind in the form of changing the temporal and spatial distribution of water resources, the natural vegetation mainly composed by Populus euphratica Oliv. along the lower Research of the Tarim River is heavily influenced with the results of overall degeneration of desert vegetation, damage of biodiversity and aggravation of desertification in the river valley. Therefore it is of theoretical, practical and social importance to ecological management and control of the Tarim River valley by probing the characteristics and leading factors of the converse evolution of natural vegetation systems and by establishing fragility evaluating factor system on natural vegetation ecosystem from the view points of restore ecology. .This paper put forth the cause of water source and vegetation degenerating of the middle and lower Reach of the Tarim River, based many works: read abundant works home and abroad, investigated and analyzed enough dates based the investigation of the water variety of the Tarim River; analyzed the variety of topsoil using remote sensing date, and analyzed the quality of the groundwater. Aiming at the problem of vegetation ecosystem of the Tarim River, basing the converse evolution of natural vegetation systems, this paper put forth some countermeasures, including utilizing water sources reasonable, closing vegetation areas to alleviate pressure of livestock grazing, recover cropland to forest and grass, conducting the inhabitation of herdsman, replacement of grassland ecosystem, and transport water to downstream area at regular intervals. Combining this countermeasures and the Renovate Ecology Project, this paper open out synthesized evaluation on input water under urgency and returning cropland to forest and grassland. This study have received some preliminary achievement and conclusion, as following:The representation of vegetation included: the forest of Populus euphratica Qliv andgrassland degenerating,, everglade and wild animal reducing ,soil deserting.the cause of water source and vegetation degenerating of the middle and lower Reach of the Tarim River: water reducing, the quality of water salinizating, groundwater degrading.restore countermeasures of vegetation of the middle and lower Reach of the Tarim River: reinforcing utilization of water sources reasonable and plantful , closing vegetation areas to...
