Shenzhen area marine clay lies to the west of seacoast and the east of Lingding Ocean,It's thickniss is about 3 to 10m, the maximum is 20m,the maximum's natural water content exceed 100%. Many large items were constructed , many foundation soil treatment practices were accumulated and consolidation theory has development in Shenzhen Special Economy Area established 20 years.But some studies are imperfect,such as in soft clay physical mechanics properties's analysing, settlement calculation method, the law of coefficent of consolidation, establishing unification settlement velocity unloading standard, forecasting residual settlement and unloading time in preloading anytime. Engineering practices will be benefit from marine clay consolidation deformation property study.By selecting representative physical mechanics properties of Shenzhen soft clay and adopting statistic method ,we can found their correlativity in order to enhance the parameter selected precision. Aopting compression index calculate totle settlement is consistent with field settlement at Shenzhen-Hongkong West Passage project. After Houhai Bay marine clay consolidation experiment results were analysed, we have found when effective load increase 100 kpa, the coefficent of consolidation will reduce 2 X 10~4cm2/s, the theory curve corrected by coefficent of consolidation accord with field curve,these prove It's law is correct Applying the relationship of settlement velocity and residual settlement, we can calculate post construction settlement less than 200mm's settlement velocity unloading standard is 0.5mm/d in Shenzhen Bay marine clay foundation soil treatment's project. By Asaoka calculating settlement velocity, applying the relationship of settlement velocity and residual settlement, we can calculate residual settlement and unloading time in preloading anytime, the method is named "settlement velocity method",It be validated in Shenzhen-Hongkong West Passage fill seafront and foundation soil treatment's project.
