The development of the space solar ultraviolet spectrometers and imaging spectrometers used to detect the amount of the ozone in the atmosphere is summarized in the first place. The structures, performance and specifications of several typical backscattered ultraviolet spectrometers are described and compared. The domestic progress in the relative fields and the main research content of the dissertation is presented in the end of Chapter one. The physical model to inverse the ozone amount in the atmosphere is introduced briefly. The simulation calculations of the solar spectral irradiance and its backscattered atmospheric spectral radiance are made by LOWTRAN7 under the different incident and viewing conditions. In Chapter 3, the structure, operational principle and specifications of the UV ozone vertical distribution monitor are introduced briefly above all. To study the spectral transmission characteristic of the instrument, the optical characters of the key optical components used in the instrument are researched firstly, including the characteristic of various diffuse material at UV-VUV spectral range used in the solar operation mode (Al diffuser) and spectral calibration(BaSO4 diffuser), the operation principle of quartz depolarizer using matrix optics theory, the character of LiF polarizer, which is used to produce UV-VUV linearly-polarized radiation at UV- VUV spectral range to verify the depolarization effect of the quartz depolarizer experimentally, the reflection and polarization character of Al+MgF2 coating which is used to improve the reflective ability of the components, such as gratings, Al diffusers etc. theorectically and experimentally, and also the absolute efficiency of holographic grating. Based on the above work and the results in Chapter 2, the radiatiop flux, the anode output that the detector received at typically operation conditions are estimated. The calibration of the UV ozone vertical distribution monitor is performed in Chapter four. The two UV-VUV radiometric scales, namely the wall-stabilized argon arc and?the synchrotron radiation are compared with quartz-windowed deuterium lamp as transmission standard source. Based on the spectral radiometric scale that we established, the instrument is calibrated to determine its spectral irradiance responsivity from 160 to 400nm?and spectral radiance responsivity from 250 to 400nm. The uncertainties of the spectral calibration results are analyzed. At the end of the thesis, the spectral radiation transmission characteristic and the calibration of the UV ozone vertical distribution monitor are outlined. The trend of UV ozone monitor and UV-VUV spectrometer or imaging spectrometer is forecast also.
