The purpose of mineral resources evaluation is to analyze the regional metallogenic conditions and minerals prospecting information thus to deduce the possible deposit and its basic feature by applying theories and techniques of geoscience. Geographic Information System(GIS) plays an important role in mineral resources evaluation for its strong management function of spatial information and its powerful spatial analysis abilities.The dissertation is one part of the project named as Research on Relation between Basic Feature of deep Structures and Solid Mineral Resources in Henan province([2008]146-CZ), which is one of the key problems in scientific and technological projects from Bureau of land and mineral resources of Henan province. Full research on metallogenic prediction theory, metallogenic prediction technique and metallogenic prediction process have been made in this dissertation in order to establish a digital mineral prospecting model, then selected the weight of evidences model as the mathematical model of the spatial analysis process. Improved the weight of evidences model by introducing experts' knowledge in it, and realized combination between data driven and knowledge driven. In this dissertation, the framework of a digital mineral prospecting model based on expert weights of evidence was constructed and a Digital Mineral Resources Evaluation System,DMRES was developed using Delphi7.0 programming languge on basis of MapGIS component technique, which contained functions of managing multi-source Geo-science information, extracting metallogenic information, dividing statistical units and as well as multi-source Geo-science information synthesis.The dissertation tested DMRES and has made sure that the anticipated functions have been accomplished and the result from it was reliable.At the end part of this dissertation, DMRES was applied to predict iron deposits of Wuyang district. Atfer analyzing and extracting aeromagnetic data and gravity data of typical iron deposits, the dissertation studied the reationship between gravity anomalies as well as aeromagnetic anomalies and potential of iron deposits. Then mapped iron deposits potential of the periphery of Wuyang iron ore in the form of color block chart, and delineated prospective areas in the periphery of Wuyang iron ore.
