Purpose: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Xuanshen Jiegeng decoction and Zhisou powder in the treatment of children with upper airway cough syndrome(wind-phlegm syndrome),and to provide clinical medication basis and methods for treating children with this disease.Material and method: Collect 60 children with upper airway cough syndrome(wind-phlegm syndrome)that visited our hospital from September 2021 to January2023.divide them into two groups by simple randomization, namely, the test group and the control group, with 30 cases in each group. The test group was treated with Xuanshen Jiegeng decoction and Zhisou powder combined with montelukast sodium chewable tablets, while the control group was treated with montelukast sodium chewable tablets alone.A single course of treatment lasts for 2 weeks, and the curative effect is evaluated after two courses of continuous treatment.Record, analyze, and compare the symptom scores and total scores within the two groups of children before and after treatment for 2 and 4 weeks,as well as the symptom scores and total scores between the two groups of children after treatment for 2 and 4 weeks. The symptoms included cough, expectoration, pharyngeal itching, throat clearing, pharyngeal signs, nasal congestion, runny nose and nasal itching. The cough VAS scores of the two groups of children after 4 weeks of treatment will be analyzed and compared; The overall effective rate of the two groups after 4 weeks of treatment will be compared.Result:1.Comparison of clinical efficacy: the overall effective rate of the test group was93.33%;The overall effective rate of the control group was 86.67%,and the efficacy of the test group was better than that of the control group(P<0.05).cough,expectoration,pharyngeal itching, throat clearing, pharyngeal signs, nasal congestion, runny nose and nasal itching.2.Comparison of TCM symptom scores: The TCM symptom scores of the two groups of children before and after treatment for 2 weeks were compared. The scores of cough, expectoration, pharyngeal itching, pharyngeal signs, and nasal congestion symptoms in the text group decreased significantly(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in throat clearing, runny nose, and nasal itching(P>0.05).The score of cough, pharyngeal signs, and nasal itching symptoms in the control group decreased significantly(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in changes in expectoration, pharyngeal itching, throat clearing, runny nose, and nasal congestion(p>0.05).The comparison result of total self score of two groups before and after 2 weeks of treatment was p=0.000<0.05,with a statistically significant difference. After 2 weeks of treatment, the TCM symptoms scores of cough, expectoration, and pharyngeal itching between the two groups were compared which showed that there was a significant difference in the efficacy. The results of clearing the throat, pharyngeal signs, nasal congestion, runny nose, and nasal itching were not significantly different(P>0.05).After 2 weeks of treatment, there was a significant difference in total scores between the two groups,Z=-3.748,p=0.000<0.05.The TCM symptom scores of the two groups of children before and after treatment for 4 weeks were compared. The scores of cough, expectoration, pharyngeal itching, throat clearing, pharyngeal signs, nasal congestion, runny nose, and nasal itching symptoms in the text group decreased significantly(P<0.05).The score of cough, expectoration, pharyngeal itching, throat clearing, pharyngeal signs, nasal congestion, runny nose, and nasal itching symptoms in the control group decreased significantly(P<0.05).The comparison result of total self score of two groups before and after 4weeks of treatment was p=0.000<0.05,with a statistically significant difference.After4 weeks of treatment, the TCM symptoms scores of cough, expectoration, pharyngeal itching, throat clearing, and pharyngeal signs between the two groups were compared which showed that there was a significant difference in the efficacy. The results of nasal congestion, runny nose, and nasal itching were not significantly different(P>0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, there was a significant difference in total scores between the two groups,Z=-4.124,p=0.000<0.05.3.Comparison of cough visual analogue score(VAS): After treatment, the visual analogue score(VAS)of cough in both groups was lower than that before treatment, which showed that both groups could significantly improve cough symptoms(P<0.05).The effect of the test group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.After 2 weeks of treatment, the text group significantly improved cough, expectoration, pharyngeal itching, pharyngeal signs, and nasal congestion symptoms; After 2 weeks of treatment, the control group significantly improved cough, pharyngeal signs, and nasal itching symptoms.2.After 4 weeks of treatment, both the text group and the control group significantly improved cough, expectoration, pharyngeal itching, clearing the throat, pharyngeal signs, nasal congestion, runny nose, and nasal itching symptoms.3.The treatment of children with upper airway cough syndrome(wind-phlegm syndrome)with Xuanshen Jiegeng decoction and Zhisou powder combined with western medicine is effective compared to the treatment of western medicine alone, but the overall effect of adding traditional Chinese medicine is better. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine has a significantly better therapeutic effect on pharyngeal symptoms than the use of Western medicine alone, including cough, expectoration, pharynx itching, throat clearing, and pharyngeal signs. The two groups improved the nasal symptoms of the children, but the difference was not significant. The symptoms including nasal congestion, runny nose, and itching. |
