Purpose:Inheriting the classical Chinese medicine,we applied the sutra formula Wu Ling San with added flavour to treat the aseptic urinary frequency-discomfort syndrome by tonifying the kidney, strengthening the spleen and warming the yang and resolving the qi,providing ideas and basis for the treatment of this disease by sutra formula.Material and method:A total of 58 cases that met the diagnostic criteria of nadir discharge and were treated with Wu Ling San Plus from September 2020 to December 2022 were collected from the outpatients of the Department of Nephrology of the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Chinese Medicine. The main observations were the symptom scores, quality of life scale scores, sleep quality scores,TCM symptom scores and the total clinical treatment efficiency of the patients before and after treatment with medication for sterile urinary frequency-void discomfort syndrome. All the study data were analysed and processed by the statistical software SPSS 26.0.Results:1.Evaluation of the efficacy of Western medicine: After treatment with Chinese medicine,17 cases were cured,14 cases showed efficacy,23 cases were effective, and 4 cases were ineffective, with a total effective rate of 93.10%.2.Evaluation of the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine: After treatment with traditional Chinese medicine,8 cases were cured,18 cases showed efficacy,30 cases were effective and2 cases were ineffective, with an overall effective rate of 99.55%.3.Comparison of the TCM evidence points: after the Chinese medicine treatment, compared with before the treatment, the patients’ tiredness and weakness, lumbar and knee weakness, heavy limbs and frequent nocturnal urination were partially improved. The total points before treatment were 24.87±1.46 and after treatment were 10.70±5.52.The total points of the TCM symptoms decreased and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.01).4.Comparison of quality of life scores: Compared with the pre-treatment period, the patients’ quality of life improved significantly after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.01).5.Comparison of sleep quality scores: Compared with the pre-treatment period, the patients’ sleep quality improved significantly after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.01).6.Statistics on the interval between the last visit and the first visit of the patients combined with the symptom score of aseptic urinary frequency-voiding discomfort syndrome: 18 patients’ symptoms improved within 2 weeks of treatment,25 patients’ symptoms improved within 4 weeks of treatment and 11 patients’ symptoms improved within 8 weeks of treatment.Conclusion:1.This study showed that Wu Ling San with additional flavor could reduce the TCM symptom scores of patients with aseptic urinary frequency-voiding discomfort syndrome of spleen-kidney qi deficiency type, resulting in improvement of clinical symptoms such as low food intake and dullness, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, and coldness in the extremities.2.Wu Ling San Plus can reduce the symptom score of patients with sterile urinary frequency-voiding discomfort syndrome of the spleen-kidney qi deficiency type and improve the symptoms of urinary discomfort.3.Wu Ling San Plus can improve the quality of sleep and increase people’s satisfaction with the quality of life.4.Wu Ling San Plus improves the clinical efficacy and increases the therapeutic efficiency of sterile urinary frequency-voiding discomfort syndrome in patients with spleen-kidney qi deficiency through the therapeutic principles of tonifying the kidney, strengthening the spleen and warming the yang and transforming the qi.
