Objective:In this study, the randomized controlled,single-blind method was used to evaluate the role of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of upper abdominal pain syndrome(EPS)by observing and comparing the clinical efficacy and safety of scalp acupuncture combined with" Lao Shizhen" and simple " Lao Shizhen" in the treatment of EPS,so as to provide an evidence basis for the clinical application of this therapy. Methods:According to the random number table,50 patients with epigastric pain syndrome who met the inclusion criteria were divided into the scalp acupuncture combined with " Lao Shizhen" group and " Lao Shizhen" group, with 25 cases in each group. The patients in the combination acupuncture group were given both scalp acupuncture and "Lao Shizhen"acupuncture. The patients in the "Lao Shizhen" group were only given "Lao Shizhen"acupuncture.Baihui(GV20),Sishencong(EX-HN1),Shenting(ST25),Benshen(BG21),Yintang(EX-HN1)were selected from the scalp acupoints. The acupuncture prescriptions of "Lao Shizhen" were Shangwan(CV 12),Zhongwan(CV 12),Xiawan(CV 12),Qi The treatment was performed twice a week,30 min each time, for continuous two weeks.General information of the patients was collected, and the overall symptom score, visual analogue scale(VAS)for pain,NDLQI for dyspepsia and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)score were obtained before and after treatment and two weeks after treatment.SPSS was used for inter-group and intra-group comparison of the collected data, and P<0.05 was considered as the criterion of significant difference.Results:1.Comparison within groups.Overall symptom scores:The scores of patients in the two groups were significantly decreased before and after treatment(P<0.01),and the differences were statistically significant;both acupuncture regimens were effective; The scores of the combined acupuncture group after treatment were not significantly different from those during follow-up(P>0.05).The symptom scores in the "Lao Shizhen" group during followup were significantly higher than those after treatment(P<0.01).VAS scores:VAS scores of patients in the two groups decreased significantly after treatment,P<0.01;The VAS score of the combined acupuncture group during follow-up was lower than that at the end of treatment(P<0.01).VAS score of "Lao Shizhen" during follow-up increased slightly as compared with that at the end of treatment(P<0.01).NDLQI:The scores of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.01);The scores of the scalp acupuncture combined with "Lao Shizhen" group were still the same as those at the end of treatment in the follow-up visit,P>0.05;The scores in the "Lao Shizhen" group during follow-up were significantly higher than those at the end of treatment(P<0.01).HADS:After treatment, the anxiety and depression levels of the two groups were lower than those before treatment(both Ps<0.05);The HADS score of the combined acupuncture group at the follow-up visit was still lower than that at the end of treatment(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the scores of follow-up and end of treatment in the "Lao Shizhen" group(P>0.05).2.Comparison between groups.Overall symptom scores:There was no significant difference between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).The follow-up visit revealed that the scores of the combined acupuncture group were significantly lower than those of the "Lao Shizhen" group(P<0.05).VAS score:there was no significant difference between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).The VAS scores of patients during follow-up were compared between the two groups. The VAS score of the combined acupuncture group was significantly lower than that of the "Lao Shizhen" group(P<0.05).NDLQI:There was no significant difference in NDLQI scores between the two groups after treatment and during follow-up,P>0.05.HADS:The anxiety-depression scores in the combined acupuncture group after treatment and during the follow-up were lower than those in the "Lao Shizhen"group(P<0.05).Conclusions:"Lao Shizhen" can effectively improve the dyspepsia in patients with upper abdominal pain syndrome, reduce the anxiety and depression levels of subjects, and improve the quality of life of patients. The combined treatment with scalp acupuncture for upper abdominal pain syndrome can significantly reduce the anxiety and depression levels of patients, enhance the efficacy of acupuncture for pain treatment, and help to maintain the long-term effect of acupuncture treatment. The two acupuncture regimens of scalp acupuncture and "Lao Shizhen" acupuncture are safe and reliable in the treatment of upper abdominal pain syndrome, and they can be combined in clinical practice to improve the efficacy. |
