ObjectiveBy observing the clinical efficacy and safety of the Six Meridians External Cleansing Formula combined with Plum Blossom Acupuncture in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia with liver and gallbladder stasis,we investigated the effectiveness of the Six Meridians External Cleansing Formula in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia verified the clinical guideline and practicality of the treatment concept of "harmonizing the internal organs and treating the six meridians",and then provided new ideas and points for the external cleansing of Chinese medicine in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. This study was conducted to verify the clinical guidance and practicality of the therapeutic concept of external treatment of the six meridians, which is "the same regulation of the internal organs and the same treatment of the six meridians".MethodThe 70 patients with androgenetic alopecia who met the inclusion criteria and signed the informed consent were divided into treatment and control groups by the digital randomization method, and the treatment group was treated with external head cleansing with the Six Jing external cleansing formula once every 2 days and plum blossom acupuncture percussion on the alopecia area,Baihui point, hair growth point and Fengchi point once a week for 12 weeks;the control group was treated with plum blossom acupuncture percussion with the same site, method and frequency as the treatment group for 12 weeks. The changes in the efficacy index scores(hair loss, greasiness, itching, desquamation, hair growth),Chinese Medicine Evidence Scale scores,Dermatology Quality of Life Scale scores,Anxiety Scale(SAS)scores and clinical adverse reactions of the two groups were observed before and after treatment, and the SPSS27.0 statistical analysis software was used to statistically analyze the data of each group, and the significance test level of this study was defined as P<0.05 to determine the clinical efficacy of the two groups, and the results were analyzed.ResultsSeventy patients were enrolled, and during treatment, one case was shed in the treatment group and two cases in the control group, resulting in 67 valid cases. Before treatment, there was no statistical difference between the two groups in terms of gender, age, family genetic history and disease duration(P>0.05).The efficacy evaluation of this trial was judged by the efficacy index score. The total effective rate of the treatment group was 88.24%,including 9 patients with significant effect,21 patients with effective effect and 4 patients with ineffective effect;the total effective rate of the control group was 48.48%,including 1 patient with significant effect,15 patients with effective effect and 17 patients with ineffective effect. The total effective rate of patients in both groups after treatment was statistically tested, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The treatments in both groups were statistically significant in improving these symptoms of hair loss, greasiness, flaking, and itching(P<0.05).The treatment group was not statistically significant(P>0.05)in improving hair loss compared with the control group after 4 weeks and 8 weeks of treatment, and was statistically different(P<0.05)after 12 weeks of treatment;the treatment group was statistically significant(P<0.05)in improving greasiness compared with the control group after 4 weeks,8 weeks, and 12 weeks of treatment;the treatment group was statistically significant(P<0.05)in improving flaking compared with the control group There was no statistically significant improvement in itching in the treatment group compared with the control group after 4 weeks,8 weeks, and 12 weeks of treatment(P>0.05);there was no statistically significant improvement in itching in the treatment group compared with the control group after 4 weeks of treatment(P>0.05),and statistically significant after 8 weeks and 12 weeks of treatment(P<0.05);there was no statistically significant improvement in hair growth in the treatment group compared with the control group after 4 weeks,8 weeks, and 12 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).There was no statistical significance in improving hair growth in the treatment group compared with the control group after 4 weeks,8 weeks, and 12 weeks of treatment(P>0.05).The treatment methods in both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05)in improving the TCM symptom scores, the Quality of Life Scale scores for dermatology, and the Anxiety Scale(SAS)scores. The treatment group was statistically significant(P<0.05)in improving TCM symptom scores and anxiety scale(SAS)scores compared with the control group, and the treatment group was not statistically significant(P>0.05)in improving dermatological quality of life scores compared with the control group. No adverse events occurred in either group throughout the study.ConclusionBoth the Six Meridians External Cleansing Formula combined with Plum Blossom Acupuncture and Plum Blossom Acupuncture alone were effective and had a good safety profile in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia due to liver-biliary stasis. The Six Jing External Washing Formula combined with Plum Blossom Acupuncture was able to improve the symptoms of hair loss, scalp itching, greasiness and flaking in AGA patients after 4 weeks of treatment, and had hair regrowth effect after 8 weeks of treatment.Plum Blossom Acupuncture alone can improve the symptoms of hair loss, itching and greasiness in AGA patients after 4 weeks of treatment, improve the symptoms of scalp flaking in patients after 8 weeks of treatment, and have the effect of hair regrowth after 12 weeks of treatment. The clinical efficacy of Six Meridians External Cleansing Formula combined with Plum Blossom Acupuncture was significantly better than the treatment with Plum Blossom Acupuncture alone, with advantages in improving greasiness, itching, hair loss,TCM evidence score and anxiety. The clinical efficacy of the Six Meridians External Cleansing Formula in treating androgenetic alopecia with liver-biliary stasis evidence was confirmed. |
