ObjectiveTo observe the corresponsive phenomenon of the three yin channels of the foot in the patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS),and the positive reaction of calf part of the three yin channels of the foot between the PCOS patients and the healthy female was examined and compared.MethodsChoosing 75 females between 18 and 35 years old as the subjects,40 PCOS patients(PCOS group)as the test group, and 35 healthy females(healthy group)as control group. We applied the traditional meridian examination method and the human tenderness mechanics quantitative tester in this study to seek for the positive reactant(such as strain, nodule, soft, depression, etc.),the occurrence of tenderness,as well as the tenderness VAS score and pressure pain threshold of the three yin channels of the foot in the non-menstrual period of PCOS group and healthy group.Results1.Comparison of the observation indexes at meridians of the three yin channels of the foot:(1)The occurrence of positive reactant:①Comparison within the group:Both of the spleen meridian and liver meridian were higher than the kidney meridian, and there were extremely significantly statistical differences between the spleen meridian(24%)and kidney meridian(0%),the liver meridian(20%)and kidney meridian of PCOS group(P<0.001).There was no statistical difference in pairwise comparison of healthy group(P>0.05).② Comparison between groups:The spleen meridian and liver meridian of PCOS group were higher than those of healthy group(P<0.01).(2)The occurrence of tenderness:① Comparison within the group:Both of the spleen meridian and liver meridian were higher than the kidney meridian, and there were significantly statistical differences between the spleen meridian(99%)and kidney meridian(70%),the liver meridian(90%)and kidney meridian of PCOS group(P<0.01).The spleen meridian(74%)was significantly higher than the liver meridian(29%)and kidney meridian(17%)in healthy group, and these differences were extremely statistically significant(P<0.001),there was no difference between the liver meridian and kidney meridian(P>0.05).② Comparison between groups:The spleen meridian, liver meridian, kidney meridian of PCOS group were higher than those of healthy group, and these difference were extremely statistically significant(P<0.001).2.The distribution of positive reaction of the three yin channels of the foot:(1)Distribution of positive reactant:Both groups’ spleen meridian were concentrated in the area between "Diji(SP8)" to "Yinlingquan(SP9)",and Sanyinjiao(SP6).Both groups’ liver meridian were concentrated in Ligou(LR5),Zhongdu(LR6).(2)Distribution of tenderness:Both groups’ spleen meridian were concentrated in the area between "Diji(SP8)" to“Yinlingquan(SP9)",and Sanyinjiao(SP6),and both were dominated by Yinlingquan(SP9).The PCOS group’s liver meridian was concentrated in Ligou(LR5),Zhongdu(LR6),Xiguan(LR7),the kidney meridian was concentrated in Zhubin(K19),and there were no regularity to follow at now in the liver meridian and kidney meridian of healthy group because of the low rate of tenderness.3.Comparison of tenderness observation indexes at acupoints of the three yin channels of the foot:(1)The occurrence of tenderness:The 7-point including Yinlingquan(SP9)(79%),Diji(SP8)(66%),Sanyinjiao(SP6)(59%),Ligou(LR5)(36%),Zhongdu(LR6)(28%),Xiguan(LR7)(38%),Zhubin(K19)(31%)in the PCOS group was higher than that in the healthy group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).(2)The tenderness VAS value:The 7-point including Yinlingquan(SP9),Diji(SP8),Sanyinjiao(SP6),Ligou(LR5),Zhongdu(LR6),Xiguan(LR7),Zhubin(KI9)in the PCOS group was higher than that in the healthy group, and these differences between groups of Yinlingquan(SP9),Diji(SP8),Ligou(LR5),Xiguan(LR7)were statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)The pressure pain threshold:The 4-point including Yinlingquan(SP9),Diji(SP8),Sanyinjiao(SP6),Ligou(LR5)in the PCOS group was lower than that in the healthy group, but only the difference between groups of Yinlingquan(SP9)was statistically significant(P<0.05),and there was no statistical difference in the comparison between groups of Zhongdu(LR6),Xiguan(LR7),Zhubin(K19)(P>0.05).Conclusion1.The incidence of tenderness and the incidence of positive reactant in the spleen meridian and liver meridian for patients with PCOS were higher than those in healthy females, suggesting that the three yin channels of the foot are related to PCOS.2.The incidence of positive reactant and tenderness in the spleen meridian and liver meridian for patients with PCOS were higher than those of kidney meridian, suggesting that the spleen meridian and liver meridian may have a higher correlation with PCOS compared with kidney meridian, and we should pay much attention to acupoint-examination of spleen meridian and liver meridian.3.Yinlingquan(SP9),Diji(SP8),Sanyinjiao(SP6),Ligou(LR5),Xiguan(LR7),and Zhubin(KI9)all possess the function of reflecting the pathological state of PCOS,and Yinlingquan(SP9)is more specific than the other five points.
