| Objective This study used a precision p H test paper to test the p H value of gingival crevicular fluid(GCF),explore the possible impact of the acidity and alkalinity of GCF on wedge-shaped defect, and further discuss the relationship between GCF p H value and supragingival and subgingival wedge-shaped defect,as well as the influence of gingival inflammation status and gender on wedge-shaped defect. Methods According to the inclusion criteria,a total of 88 patients with wedge-shaped defect, including 21 males and 67 females, aged 25 to 65 years old,who visited our dental and endodontic department from 2022 to 2023 were collected in the experiment.Based on the relative position of the gingival edge and gingival margin of the wedge-shaped defect,128 teeth with supragingival wedge-shaped defect were selected as the supragingival group and134 teeth with subgingival wedge-shaped defect were selected as the subgingival group from patients with wedge-shaped defect.A total of 262 teeth with supragingival and subgingival wedge-shaped defect were selected as the experimental group. For the same patient,a total of262 teeth without wedge-shaped defect were selected as the control group, including contralateral homonymous teeth, contralateral homonymous teeth,or non adjacent healthy teeth within the same quadrant.Perform periodontal probing on each affected tooth and record the bleeding status during probing in each group,as an indicator for evaluating the presence of gingival inflammation.Based on the gingival status of wedge-shaped defect affected teeth,262 teeth were divided into gingival health group and gingivitis group.Measure and record the p H value of gingival crevicular fluid of affected teeth and healthy control teeth using precision p H test strips(range 5.5-9.0),and organize and analyze the data of each group using SPSS 26.0.Results The average p H value of gingival crevicular fluid in the experimental group was6.79±0.19,and that in the reference group was 7.10±0.11,experimental group was lower than reference group(P<0.05);The p H value of gingival crevicular fluid in subgingival group was6.59 ± 0.16,and that in supragingival group was 7.01 ± 0.14,the p H of the subgingival group was not as high as that of the supergingival group(P<0.05);The p H value of gingival crevicular fluid in gingivitis group was 6.78 ± 0.19,and that in gingival health group was 6.84± 0.21.The p H of gingival crevicular fluid in the gingival inflammation group was slightly lower than that in the normal gingival group, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).The p H value of gingival crevicular fluid of wedge-shaped defect in male patients was 6.82 ± 0.17,and that of wedge-shaped defect in female patients was 6.79 ± 0.20,which was slightly higher in male patients than in female patients, with no significant difference(P>0.05).The proportion of supragingival wedge-shaped defect and subgingival wedge-shaped defect in male patients was 48.48% and51.52% respectively; The proportion of supragingival wedge-shaped defect in female patients was 48.98%,and the proportion of subgingival wedge-shaped defect was 51.02%.There is a small difference in the proportion of wedge-shaped defect types between male and female patients(P>0.05).Conclusions 1.The progression of wedge-shaped defect may be related to the weak acidic environment of gingival crevicular fluid.2.The weakly acidic environment of gingival crevicular fluid has a relatively small impact on supragingival wedge-shaped defect, but a greater impact on subgingival wedge-shaped defect.3.Gingival inflammation status and gender have no significant impact on the p H value of gingival crevicular fluid in teeth with wedge-shaped defect, and gender has no significant impact on the location distribution of wedge-shaped defect. |
