Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)is an important part of the fine traditional culture of the Chinese nation. It has a long history of thousands of years and has contributed greatly to the prosperity of the Chinese nation.Since the spread of Western learning to the east, due to the introduction of Western medicine into China, the status and discourse power of TCM began to decline, and it was even in danger of being "abolished" at one time.Fierce arguments have been launched around the scientific nature of TCM,and there are still voices against TCM until contemporary times. As socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a new era,the Party and the state attach greater importance to the innovation and development of TCM,and have introduced a series of action plans to strengthen the service system of TCM,emphasizing the unique role of the revitalization and development of TCM in safeguarding people’s health. In essence,TCM has its unique philosophical foundation, theoretical system and way of thinking. The scientific nature of Chinese medicine is very important to the survival and development of Chinese medicine. Therefore,an in-depth study of the scientific nature of TCM from the scientific philosophy dimension can provide a strong philosophical defense for the scientific nature of TCM,which also lays a solid theoretical foundation for the future development of TCM.This paper is mainly divided into four parts:The first part is the outline of basic theory of TCM.Based on TCM itself, this part clarifies the formation, development and improvement process of basic theories and theories of TCM,grasps the core thoughts and theoretical characteristics of TCM theories as a whole, and clarifies that TCM takes the theory of Qi monism,Yin and Yang, and the five elements as its philosophical thinking mode, takes holism as its guiding ideology, and takes Tibetan image channels and collaterals, pathogenesis and other pathologies and physiology as its basis.A comprehensive medical theory system characterized by syndrome differentiation and treatment. The second part is the historical evolution of scientific argument of TCM.From the historical point of view, this part divides the scientific disputes of TCM into four stages: the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the New Century.Combined with the landmark events of each period,it clarifies the development of the scientific disputes of TCM since modern times. The third part, the focus and essence of the scientific dispute of TCM.Based on the analysis of the different theoretical viewpoints of the anti-TCM and the supporters of TCM,this part states that the focus of the debate mainly focuses on the theoretical expression and internal logic of TCM,the corresponding relationship between TCM theory and entity, the scientific nature of diagnosis and treatment methods and the evaluation of the curative effect of TCM,and further explores the essence of the scientific debate of TCM,that is,the grasp of the world by Chinese and western philosophy. There are profound differences in the way of thinking of Chinese and western medicine,as well as their understanding of human body and disease. The fourth part is the philosophical reflection of the scientific nature of TCM.From the dimension of philosophy of science, this part systematically demonstrates the uniqueness of the way of thinking of TCM,the scientificness of TCM from the perspective of TCM research method,TCM theory and philosophy of scientific practice, thus providing a strong defense for the scientificness of TCM.
