| Objective: To investigate the current situation of emotional intelligence,mental resilience and death coping ability of nurses in oncology department of Changchun Grade A Hospital.To explore the main influencing factors of emotional intelligence,mental resilience and death coping ability of nurses in oncology department.The correlation of emotional intelligence,mental resilience and death coping ability among nurses in oncology department was analyzed.To investigate the mediating effect between emotional intelligence and death coping ability of nurses’ mental resilience in oncology department.Method: December 2021--September 2022,A total of 286 oncology nurses from 2Class A general hospitals and 1 Class A cancer hospital in Changchun were selected as the research objects.General data questionnaire,Chinese version of emotional intelligence Scale,mental resilience scale and death coping ability scale were used to conduct a questionnaire survey for oncology nurses.The collected data were input into Excel,sorted out and analyzed,and SPSS was applied 25.0 Statistical software was used for statistical analysis of the data.The main statistical methods included descriptive analysis,independent sample T test,multiple linear regression analysis,Pearson correlation analysis and intermediate effect test.Results: 1.The scores of emotional intelligence,mental resilience and death coping ability of oncology nurses in Changchun Third-class A Hospital were(103.59±13.14),(59.85±7.80)and(114.94±12.78)respectively.2.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender,age,marital status,whether the nurses could get support and help from family and friends when they encountered difficulties in life,and whether they had participated in death education training were the main influencing factors of their emotional intelligence;The nurse’s age,marital status,experience in nursing death/near-death patients in the last six months,and the experience of attending death education training were the main influencing factors of their mental resilience;The nurse’s age,the type of hospital,the experience of caring for dying/dying patients in the last six months,and the experience of attending death education training were the main factors affecting the ability to cope with death.3.Correlation analysis results showed that emotional intelligence was positively correlated with mental resilience(P <0.05),emotional intelligence was positively correlated with death coping ability(P <0.05),and mental resilience was positively correlated with death coping ability(P <0.05).4.The results of mediating effect analysis showed that the effect of emotional intelligence on death coping ability of oncology nurses could be influenced by the mediating effect of mental resilience,which accounted for 19.15% of the total effect.Conclusion: 1.The emotional intelligence of nurses in the oncology department of Changchun Third Class Hospital is at a moderate to high level,their psychological resilience is at a moderate level,and their ability to cope with death is at a moderate to low level.2.Nurses who are older,tend to care for dying/dying patients in the past six months,work in oncology specialized hospitals,and have experience in participating in death education and training have higher ability to cope with death.The emotional intelligence and psychological resilience of nurses in the oncology department of Changchun Third Class Hospital are positively correlated with their ability to cope with death.4.Emotional intelligence can indirectly affect death coping ability by influencing psychological resilience.Nursing managers can explore and develop strategies to improve nurses’ emotional intelligence and psychological resilience,promoting the improvement of death coping ability among oncology nurses. |
