Objective To investigate the nursing college students' emotional intelligence and the difference between the female students in common university and in nursing college, and to study the influencing factors of emotional intelligence and the relationship between emotional intelligence and coping style .Methods The nursing college students from Shangrao Medical College and Jing Gangshan Medical College were recruited using a stratification sampling method. 297 nursing college students were measured by Scale of Emotional Intelligence of College Students by Xu Xiaoyan,Zhang Jinfu and Coping Style Question (CSQ) by Xiao Jihua to analyze the influencing factors of nursing college students' emotional intelligence and its correlated relation with coping style. The data collected were described and analyzed with statistical description, t-test, analysis of variance , linear correlation and multiple linear regression.Results①Generally, the emotion intelligence of the nursing college student is positive, but its development is imbalance between each factors. The difference on the emotion intelligence between the female students in common university and in nursing college isn't statistically significant as a whole.②The grade and the source of the students will not significantly influence their emotional intelligence. The difference on the emotional intelligence between the students from single child family and those having siblings is statistically significant. And the interaction between the source of student and whether only child or not only child is statistically significant (F=3.031, P<0.05) .③The six coping styles are all in the middle level, its using priority is problem-solving, help-seeking, fantasy, avoidance, rationalization and self-accusation. The nursing college students from county town and the country are more likely to choose blend and immature coping style, the difference is statistically significant.④The emotional intelligence has significant correlation with all the six coping styles. Problem-solving and help-seeking have significant positive correlation with the emotional intelligence, and the other four coping styles that are self-accusation, fantasy, avoidance and rationalization have significant negative correlation with the emotional intelligence (r = -0.504~0.621, P<0.01). Problem-solving, self-accusation, help-seeking, whether only child or not only child ,all the four variables can explain 51.9% of variability the emotional intelligence of nursing college students.Conclusion①The emotion intelligence of the nursing college student is positive and presents a mixed characteristic of stability and fluctuation in the development of the emotional intelligence. The main characteristic is that emotion's consciousness aspect is stronger than its behavior. As a whole, the female nursing college students' emotional intelligence has no difference with that of the common female university students.②There are many kinds of influencing factors on the emotional intelligence of the nursing college students. The emotional intelligence of students from single child family is higher than those having siblings. There is the interaction between the source of student and whteher only child or not only child.③Facing with stress, the nursing college students tend to choose the mature coping style. The nursing college students from county town and the country are more likely to choose blend and immature coping style than those from city.④The emotional intelligence has correlation with all the six coping styles. Problem-solving , self-accusation, help-seeking and whteher only child or not only child are the important forecasting factors of the emotional intelligence.
