Research On The Medical Practice Of People In Laoqiao Village,Chongqing

Nowadays,the practice of disease treatment in Laoqiao Village of Chongqing City shows the co-existence of multiple medical treatments.This practice process reflects a symbiotic and co-operative relationship among plural medical systems.Villagers judge diseases based on own cognition and make medical choices appropriately.When villagers fall ill,they will first choose professional medical treatment combining modern Chinese and western medicine for treatment.When it is not effective,they are turned to other traditionally medical treatment.Their choice of medical treatment shows that plural medical systems are prevalent in rural areas.This paper attempts to analyze the applicability of plural medical in the development of rural medical service in southwest China by exploring the phenomenon of pluralistic medical practice in Laoqiao and the historical,social and personal factors behind it.The paper is divided into three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction mainly expounds the academic value and practical significance of the topic,and carries on the academic history of related theories and researches.The introduction discusses the research content,ideas,research methods,and the field point.The main text consists of four chapters.The first chapter presents the disease cognition system of Laoqiao Village as a whole,and points out the villagers’ view of health,disease classification and etiology.The second chapter introduces medical system in Laoqiao village,namely the traditional folk medical system including the folk herbal medicine system and the folk faith treatment and the modern professional medical system combining traditional Chinese and western medicine.The third chapter takes the villagers’ individual medical experience as the narrative object and analyze the characteristics of medical practice,such as the principle of priority of efficacy and the principle of proximity to medical treatment.By presenting the scene of villagers using plural medical systems for disease treatment,different disease of individuals makes different choices,it maps the symbiotic and co-constructive relationship between the plural medical systems in Laoqiao.The fourth chapter focuses on the historical and socio-cultural factors that influence the individual’s choice of medical treatment in Laoqiao village.In the historical process of the development of the plural medical systems,the article focuses on the historical inheritance of the folk medical system and the scientific nature of the construction of the professional medical system.Socio-cultural factors are dissected in terms of villagers’ socio-cultural perceptions and the duality of rural doctors’ identities.Personal medical perceptions are more influenced by medical outcomes.In the conclusion section,the article points out that villager choices are influenced by historical development,socio-cultural,and personal perceptions of health care.
