Water polo sports combine the characteristics of swimming and throwing. The main movement of the upper limbs is the movement of the shoulders over the top, resulting in the athlete’s shoulders and arms to bear a huge sports load during the exercise process.Prolonged repetitive movements and intense exertion cause water polo players to overuse the vesicles in their shoulder joints, resulting in inflammation, which can lead to degeneration or even tearing of the shoulder tissue, causing pain and injury to the shoulder.Shoulder injury can also lead to shoulder stiffness and limited shoulder function of water polo players, affecting their training and competition performance, and hindering their future career development. Therefore, studying the situation and causes of shoulder injuries in high-level female water polo players has important practical significance for preventing shoulder injuries, protecting athletes’ health, and extending their career. This article takes shoulder sports injuries of high-level female water polo players in China as the research object, and uses research methods such as literature review, questionnaire survey, and mathematical statistics to investigate the incidence of shoulder sports injuries, the incidence of injuries at different locations, the location, type, severity, severity, and severity of injuries among high-level female water polo players in China,This article analyzes the factors that cause shoulder sports injuries, and explores how to avoid and reduce shoulder sports injuries in competitions and training. The research findings are as follows: 1.The average age of 118 high-level female water polo players in China is 22.126 years old, with the majority of them being athletes and above, and the training period is concentrated in 4-6 years. The shoulder injuries of high-level female water polo players in China are relatively common, with the incidence of shoulder injuries being 67.80%.The shoulder injuries of athletes at different positions in the game field are in the order of center(88.89%),arc top position(80.95%),baseline(65.71%),waist position(58.06%),and goalkeeper(46.15%);The injury sites were concentrated in joints(78.75%)and ligaments(71.25%);The main type of injury was shoulder contusion(66.25%);The severity of injury was mainly mild(61.25%);The severity of injury was mainly acute(63.75%);The scene where the most injuries occur is the training scene(23.75%),and more than half of the athletes(56.25%)suffer shoulder injuries simultaneously in both the competition and training scenes. The main factors leading to shoulder injury in high-level female water polo players include individual factors, project characteristics, training factors, competition factors, post injury treatment and rehabilitation factors.Suggestions: 1.Strengthen athletes’ self-protection awareness and improve their self-protection ability;2.Do a good job of warm-up activities before training to reduce injuries during training;3.Strengthen athletes’ strength training to improve their ability to resist shoulder injuries;4.Reasonably arrange the shoulder training load and training volume to keep the athlete’s body in good condition;5.Pay attention to special shoulder preparation activities to reduce the risk of injury caused by physical confrontation during competition.
