Objective: To analyze the relationship between changes in TSH levels and carotid atherosclerosis in patients with normal thyroid function in type 2 diabetes.Method: A total of 188 patients with type 2 diabetes and normal thyroid function who were admitted to the Department of Endocrinology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University between March 2021 and March 2022 were selected.According to carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT),the patients were divided into 105 atherosclerosis group(AS group)and 83 non-atherosclerosis group(without AS group),and TSH was measured. Results: TSH in AS group was significantly higher than that in no AS group, and FT3 and FT4 in AS group were significantly lower than those in no AS group(P < 0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that in T2 DM patients with normal thyroid function,AS was positively correlated with TSH,and negatively correlated with FT3 and FT4(P < 0.05).logistic regression analysis showed that FT4 and TSH were independently correlated with AS(P < 0.05).Conclusion: FT4 and TSH in patients with normal thyroid function in T2 DM are independently correlated with AS,which can be used to predict the occurrence of carotid atherosclerosis.
