Objective: Metabolomics is a newly developed branch of omics science, which focuses on the comprehensive analysis of small molecules involved in a variety of biological pathways through high throughput techniques.Different metabolites in saliva of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma and healthy people were sought by using the technology of saliva metabolomics to provide help for early detection, diagnosis and targeted therapy of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods : Nine patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma and three healthy people were selected, and saliva samples were collected, and the metabolomics of saliva samples were studied by liquid secondary mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS)and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).Combined with the results of principal component analysis, partial least squares discriminant analysis and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis, saliva metabolites were further annotated by KEGG database to find the markers of differential metabolism between the two groups. Results:Five significant metabolites were detected in saliva samples of OSCC patients. The levels of L-leucine,L-ornithine and5-aminolevulinic acid in saliva samples of oral squamous cell carcinoma patients were significantly lower than those of healthy people, and BPA was up-regulated.Conclusion:A series of metabolites in saliva of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma are significantly changed, which is helpful for early detection, diagnosis and targeted therapy of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
