Objectives(1)This study seeks to comprehend the current state of self-concealment and its influencing factors.(2)Exploring the correlation between self-concealment,cognitive emotion regulation, and quality of life in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and to construct a structural equation model to elucidate the action path and intermediary variables among them,so as to furnish guidance for enhancing the quality of life of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in the future,is essential for those undergoing chemotherapy. Methods From November 2021 to March 2022,228 patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy in the Breast Surgery Ward and Day Ward of a 3A hospital in Anhui Province were chosen as the research objects. The subjects were probed through the utilization of a general information questionnaire,self-concealment scale(SCS),cognitive emotion regulation scale(CERQ),perceived social support scale(PSSS),medical coping style questionnaire(MCMQ)and the short form of health survey(SF-36),the subjects were investigated.A thorough statistical analysis of the data was conducted using SPSS 24.0,and single factor, correlation, and multiple stepwise regression analyses were employed to investigate the elements influencing self-concealment of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. To validate and rectify the structural equation model,AMOS 26.0 software was employed.Results(1)The average level of self-concealment in those with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy was surpassed by the total score of(33.6 8.3),which was above the average level.(2)A univariate analysis revealed a statistically significant disparity in age, educational attainment, per capita monthly income, and self-concealment among those with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy(P < 0.05).A correlation analysis revealed a positive association between self-concealment and nonadaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies(r = 0.33,P < 0.05),as well as a negative correlation between faceto-face and out-of-home support(r=-0.27,r=-0.23,all P < 0.05).(3)A stepwise regression analysis of multivariate variables revealed that education level, family income per capita,out-of-home support, nonadaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategy, and face were the determinants of patients’self-concealment(adjustment R~2=0.255;F=8.078,P=0.000)。(4)The structural equation model shows that the model based on self-concealment theory and literature review fits well, with X/DF = 1.772,RMSEA=0.058,GFI=0.930,CFI=0.920,IFI=0.922,PGFI=0.603,PNFI=0.634.Cognitive emotion regulation completely mediates the relationship between self-concealment and quality of life, and the effect value is-0.198,in which the indirect effect value through adaptive emotion regulation strategy is-0.058 and the indirect effect value through non-adaptive emotion regulation strategy is-0.140.Conclusions(1)The score of self-concealment of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy is high, and the factors influencing self-concealment are patients’ education level, family per capita monthly income,out-of-home support, nonadaptive emotional adjustment strategies and coping styles.(2)Based on the theory of self-concealment and literature review, the structural equation model of self-concealment,cognitive emotion regulation and quality of life of breast cancer chemotherapy patients can meet the standard after adjustment of its fitting index and other reference values. The quality of life can be directly impacted by selfconcealing, and also indirectly through various emotional regulation strategies.
