ObjectiveTo explore the application effect of the “5E”prevention strategy in the graded prevention and control of indwelling needle blockage of tumor patients in daytime diagnosis and treatment mode, and to provide clinical evidence to reduce the incidence of indwelling needle blockage in patients. We discussed the effect of this prevention strategy on reducing the incidence of indwelling needle and tube plugging, patients’ satisfaction with nursing,self-management ability and other aspects in the hierarchical prevention and control of cancer patients with indwelling needle and tube plugging under the mode of day diagnosis and treatment in order to provide clinical evidence to reduce reduce the incidence of catheter plugging with indwelling needle.MethodsFrom March 1 to August 31,2021,a total of 286 tumor patients who received indwelling needle infusion in the day ward of a Grade-A hospital in Anhui Province were selected as the study objects by convenience sampling method, and 142 patients from March 1 to May 31,2021 were selected as the control group.A total of 144 patients from June 1 to August 31,2021 were enrolled as the observation group.142 cases in the control group received routine nursing measurescare,144 cases in the observation group were carried out the “5E” prevention strategy intervention which refered to evaluation, education prevention, environmental improvement, engineering and enhancement.Results1.General information: Before intervention, there were no statistically significant differences in age, sex, marital status, residence, education level, religious belief,BMI,monthly income(yuan),type of cancer, imported drugs, smoking history, drinking history, and complications(P > 0.05),indicating comparability.2.After the intervention, the incidence of tube blockage was compared between the two groups.16 patients in the control group and 7 patients in the observation group had tube blockage, the incidence of tube blockage was 11.27% and 4.86%,respectively.The average indwelling time of the indwelling needle in the control group was 1.38 days, lower than that in the observation group(1.58 days)(t=-2.890,P=0.004).The average recognition score of the control group was 62.18 points lower than that of the observation group,65.97 points, and the difference was statistically significant(t=-3.611,P <0.01).3.After intervention, the nursing satisfaction of the two groups of patients was compared. In the control group,56 patients were very satisfied,65 patients were satisfied,21 patients were dissatisfied, and the satisfaction rate was 85.2%;In the observation group,78 cases were very satisfied,61 cases were satisfied,5 cases were not satisfied, and the satisfaction rate was 96.5%.3.The nursing satisfaction of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(χ~2=11.947,P <0.001).3.After the intervention, the score of self-management efficacy of the two groups was compared. The average score of self-management efficacy of the observation group was 97.17,higher than that of the control group 62.34,and the scores of the three dimensions of self-decision-making,positive attitude and self-stress reduction were higher than those of the control group, with statistical significance(t=-17.391,P<0.001).Conclusion“5E” prevention strategy is beneficial to reduce the incidence of plug, improve patients’ cognition rate, nursing satisfaction and patients’ self-management ability,to provide evidence for reducing the incidence of indwelling needle blockage of tumor patients, and ensure the safety of intravenous therapy for patients.
