During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the economy of southern China was developed and the culture was prosperous, which promoted the development and growth of many regional traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)academic schools such as Xin’ an medicine,Lingnan medicine and Minnan medicine.Although both Xin’ an medicine and Lingnan medicine are influenced by the medical culture of the Central Plains and are located south of the Yangtze River, the differences are obvious. This study takes Xin’ an medicine and Lingnan medicine as the main research objects, and intends to explore the similarities and differences between Xin’ an medicine and Lingnan medicine in five aspects : geographical environment, climate characteristics, economic foundation, cultural heritage and modern development,in order to provide reference for the macro control and top-level design of the construction of the two. This article is divided into five parts to discuss.1.From the perspective of geographical environment,Xin’ an area and Lingnan area are mostly mountainous and hilly, with scarce cultivated land resources, but convenient water transportation, which is conducive to the communication between Xin’an medicine and Lingnan medicine and the outside world, and also promotes the commercial prosperity of the two.The rich forest resources in Xin’ an area and Lingnan area provide favorable conditions for the growth of Chinese medicinal materials.Xin’ an area is close to the Central Plains and is deeply influenced by the medical culture of the Central Plains.Lingnan area is far from the Central Plains, but it actively absorbs foreign medical culture because it is close to the South China Sea.2.From the perspective of climatic characteristics,Xin’ an area and Lingnan area are conducive to the cultivation and growth of Chinese herbal medicine resources due to the warm and humid climate.Xin’ an area is mild and rainy, four seasons, suitable for living,no obvious regional diseases.Lingnan area is located in the south of China, close to the equator, high temperature and rainy, long summer and short winter, external evil pathogenic fire wide, humid and rainy, miasma pestilence virus is rich, easy to cause pestilence, malaria and other regional diseases. The hot and humid climate in Lingnan area also provides a favorable environment for the growth of ’ Haiyao ’,promotes the process of Chinese medicine and enriches the resources of Chinese medicinal materials.3.From the economic basis,a large number of economic crops, metal minerals and convenient shipping conditions make the economy of Xin’ an area and Lingnan area more developed. The economic prosperity of Xin’ an area was earlier than that of Lingnan area. After more than three hundred years of glory,Huizhou merchants directly invested in medicine and trained a large number of talents for the development of Xin’an medicine.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the commodity economy in Lingnan area was active, which made the production of Chinese patent medicine take shape. With the Maritime Silk Road,Lingnan doctors absorbed foreign medical culture earlier, and also promoted the globalization and internationalization of TCM.4.From the perspective of cultural heritage,Xin’ an area is an important hub for cultural exchanges between the Central Plains region and the southern region.Compared with Lingnan area,it is deeply influenced by the Central Plains culture.Under the social background of Confucianism and patriarchal system, the characteristics of Confucianism and medicine are obvious, and family inheritance and medical family have become a significant feature of Xin’ an medicine. At the same time, the strong commercial culture atmosphere in Xin’ an area also promoted the development of Xin’an medicine.Although the Lingnan area is far away from the Central Plains, with the influx of people outside the region, coupled with the development of maritime trade, the prosperity of commercial culture, and the introduction of Western civilization, the Central Plains culture,South Vietnamese culture, and Western civilization collided in the Lingnan area, which prompted Lingnan medicine to form a compatible multicultural feature. At the same time, the frequent occurrence of regional diseases in Lingnan has also led local residents to form a diet culture of drinking herbal tea and eating medicinal diet.5.From the perspective of modern development, the development of Xin’ an medical health care mainly focuses on the literature of health preservation, and carries forward the traditional health preservation theory and method of Xin’ an medicine from different levels and angles. In terms of clinical development, both Xin’ an doctors and Lingnan doctors give full play to the advantages of diagnosis and treatment characteristics. Both of them have played a role in promoting the innovation of TCM talent training mode, and can learn from each other in cultural propaganda and talent training innovation. At present, the Chinese herbal medicine industry related to Xin’ an Medicine and Lingnan Medicine is developing rapidly and making outstanding contributions to Healthy China. In short, the formation and development of Xin’ an medicine and Lingnan medicine is the result of the interaction of social environment and regional factors in the two places. There are similarities and differences between the two in terms of geography, climate, economy, culture and modern development. At the same time, this is also the root cause of the two leading the development of regional medicine in East China and South China.
