With the continuous improvement of living standards and medical care consciousness of contemporary residents, the basic medical insurance with the main principle of "low level, basic protection" has been difficult to meet people’s increasing demand for security. In this regard, the "Healthy China 2030 Plan Outline" clearly states that by 2030 China will fully establish a multi-level medical security system, and emphasizes the active development of various forms of supplementary medical insurance to escort the health of the whole people.Women as relatively socially disadvantaged groups, need to be more comprehensive health care, combined with the present our country marriage under the background of upheaval. The proportion of leftover women, divorced women, single mothers and other female groups has been increasing. Are there differences in supplemental health insurance decisions among women of different marital status, and how these arise. It is a problem worthy of further study to improve the participation rate of supplementary medical insurance for women.Based on it,the paper uses the data of the 2018 China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)to verify the influence of women’s marital status on the insurance decision of supplementary health insurance through the Logit model, and uses the mediating effect step by step test and Sobel test.It was further analyzed whether marital status would affect women’s insurance coverage behavior by changing their economic status, health status and risk attitude.Research results are as follows:(1)on the whole, women marital status affect supplementary medical insurance insurance decisions, including unmarried for negative effects, for positive promoting effect on marriage and divorce, the influence of the death of a spouse is not significant, moreover also found that the household registration, education level, work status and basic medical insurance will significantly affect the supplementary medical insurance.(2)In the test with economic status as the intermediary variable, both marriage and divorce promote women’s participation in supplementary medical insurance by improving women’s economic level.(3)In the test with health status as the mediating variable, divorced marital status will increase the probability of supplementary medical insurance coverage by reducing women’s health status.(4)In the test with risk attitude as the intermediary variable, unmarried marital status inhibited the insurance behavior of supplementary medical insurance by reducing women’s risk aversion consciousness, while married marital status was just the opposite, and marriage promoted the insurance behavior by improving women’s risk aversion consciousness. The innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in the following two points: First,in terms of research content, based on existing from the perspective of marital status and gender differences research literature for supplementary medical insurance decision, this paper takes into account not only the men and women differences in risk perception and behavior, and refine the previous research on the classification of marital status(most marital status can be divided into single in marriage and only). The breakdown of unmarried, divorced and widowed women into single groups will help further explore the differences within single women.Second,in terms of research methods, most of the domestic and foreign studies in this regard simply analyzed the influencing factors of the demand for supplementary medical insurance, without in-depth analysis of how this influence is generated.Based on the perspective of mediating effect, this paper further explores the internal transmission relationship between women’s marital status and supplementary medical insurance insurance coverage decision from three aspects:economic status, health status and risk attitude, which is the enrichment and expansion of the existing insurance consumption behavior theory.
