Purpose:Cardiorespiratory fitness(CRF)and exercise blood pressure abnormalities are closely related to cardiovascular prognosis. This study observed the influence of hypertension on CRF and exercise blood pressure in dwelling older adults. Methods:Between September 2019 and July 2021,the elderly who underwent health examination at Shenzhen Yantian People’s Hospital were selected, and a total of 1422 subjects who finished cardiopulmonary exercise testing(CPET)were included in the study.Subjects were divided into hypertensive group and normotensive group according to their blood pressure. The differences in CRF and exercise blood pressure between groups were assessed by analysis of covariance(ANCOVA);Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the association between hypertension(HTN)and exercise exaggerated blood pressure response(EBPR).Results:1.Compared to normotensive group:(1)There were no significant difference in sex, age, glucose,TC,LDL and resting HR between groups(P>0.05),hypertensive group had higher body weight, higher TG,higher resting SBP,higher resting DBP and lower HDL(P<0.05);(2)hypertensive group had lower peak VO2(L/min),lower peak VO2(ml/kg/min),lower peak metabolic equivalents(METs),lower peak d VO2/d work rate, lower peak work rate, lower peak HR,lower peak VE(P<0.05);(3)hypertensive group had higher peak SBP,higher SBP in 3minute recovery, higher SBP in 6 minute recovery, higher SBP change(from resting to peak exercise)and higher SBP/MET slope(increase in systolic blood pressure per increase in metabolic equivalent of task)(P<0.05).2.Binary Logistic regression showed an independent association of hypertension with exercise EBPR(P<0.001).Conclusion:In dwelling older adults, hypertensive subjects had a worse cardiorespiratory fitness,an exaggerated blood pressure response.Hypertension is an independent predictor of exercise EBPR in older adults.
