| Objective:To understand the current situation of the mental energy among patients in compulsory drug rehabilitation centers, explore the influencing factors of mental energy, and clarify the relationship between mental energy and its influencing factors, thus providing a scientific reference for improving the patients’mental energy and expanding future lines of work on compulsory drug rehabilitation. Methods:A multi-stage random sampling method was used.A total of 600 patients were randomly selected from compulsory drug rehabilitation centers in Wuhan,Hubei Province. The participants’mental energy, family functioning,self-esteem,and abstinence self-confidence were measured using the Mental Energy Rating Scale, the Family APGAR Index, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and the Drug Abstainers’Refraining Confidence Scale, respectively. The multiple linear regression model was used to explore the factors influencing the participants’mental energy.Based on our theoretical hypotheses, structural equation modeling was used to analyze the relationship between mental energy and its influencing factors. Also, the multi-group constancy test was used to explore the measurement invariances of the model.Results:(1)The results of the multiple linear regression model showed that, after controlling for other variables, the mental energy level was significantly lower in females than in males(β=-2.89,P=0.017);unemployed participants reported a significantly lower level of mental energy than those who were employed(β=-2.61,P=0.041);participants whose frequency of using drugs≥5 days per week had significantly lower level of mental energy than those<5 days per week(β=-2.71,P=0.028).In addition, the participants with higher levels of self-esteem(β=1.53,P<0.001),abstinence self-confidence(β=0.70,P<0.001),and family functioning(β=0.75,P=0.001)reported a significant higher level of mental energy.(2)The chain mediation model showed the model-fit indexes ofχ~2/df=2.357,CFI=0.970,TLI=0.963,RMSEA=0.048,and SRMR=0.045,suggesting a good fit to the sample data. The direct effect(path 1,family functioning→mental energy)was significant(β=1.51,P<0.05),accounting for 27.53%of the total effect(0.087/0.316).The mediating effect of self-esteem and abstinence self-confidence on path 2(family functioning→self-esteem→abstinence self-confidence→mental energy)was significant(β=0.96,P<0.01),accounting for 17.72%of the total effect(0.056/0.316).The mediating effect of self-esteem on path 3(family functioning→self-esteem→mental energy)was significant(β=1.12,P<0.01),accounting for 20.57%of the total effect(0.065/0.316).Also,the mediating effect of abstinence self-confidence on path 4(family functioning→abstinence self-confidence→mental energy)was significant(β=1.86,P<0.01),accounting for 34.18%of the total effect(0.108/0.316).(3)The results of the multi-group constancy test showed that all the multi-group baseline models fitted well in different groups of gender, occupation, and frequency of drug use(Gender:χ~2/df=1.950,CFI=0.958,TLI=0.949,RMSEA=0.040,SRMR=0.046;Occupation:χ~2/df=1.772,CFI=0.964,TLI=0.956,RMSEA=0.036,SRMR=0.053;Frequency of drug use:χ~2/df=1.991,CFI=0.955,TLI=0.945,RMSEA=0.041,SRMR=0.042).In addition,in those groups, the measurement weights, structural weights, and structural variance models did not significantly differ from unconstrained models.Conclusions:(1)Gender,occupation,frequency of drug use,self-esteem,abstinence self-confidence,and family functioning influence mental energy levels among patients in compulsory drug rehabilitation centers.(2)The patients’family functioning can directly influence their mental energy. The self-esteem and abstinence self-confidence partially mediated the relationship between family functioning and mental energy.(3)The chain mediation model showed the absence of structural differences across groups of gender, occupation, and frequency of drug use, suggesting the measurement invariances across groups. |
