Objectives This study analyzed the short-term prognosis of patients with acute posterior circulation cerebral infarction(aPCI),who complicated with acataposis, persistent hiccup and sudden hearing loss.To investigate whether these symptoms affect the prognosis of aPCI,and provides a reference for emergency neurologists to evaluate aPCI.Methods A total of 264 patients with acute posterior-circulation infarction who were admitted to neurology department of Tangshan Workers’Hospital from November 2020 to May 2021 were selected.According to the Modified Rankin Disability Scale(mRS)score at3 months after discharge, they were divided into good prognosis group and poor prognosis group.Collecting clinical baseline data when they were admitted to hospital, including:Gender, age, body mass index, smoking history, alcohol use history, history of hypertension, history of diabetes, history of atrial fibrillation, and National Institute of Health Stroke at admission Scale(NIHSS),whether the patients had acataposis, persistent hiccup and sudden deafness in the course of the disease. The influence of the above mentioned clinical symptoms on the short-term prognosis of aPCI was analyzed by comparing the data of the two groups. Results 1 There were 178 patients in the good prognosis group, including 133 mal es and 45 females, with average age of 60.18±10.04 years, and 86 patients in the p oor prognosis group, including 59 males and 27 females, with average age of 63.31±9.86 years.2 The poor prognosis group was more likely to have acataposis(χ~2=63.859,P=0.000),persistent hiccup(χ~2=15.828,P=0.000)and sudden deafness(χ~2=13.589,P=0.001)than the good prognosis group, and the difference was statistically significant.3Patients in the poor prognosis group had higher NIHSS score at admission(t=-5.726,P=0.000),older age(t=-2.391,P=0.018)and diabetes history(χ~2=7.362,P=0.007),and the difference was statistically significant.4 Multivariate logistic regression analysis sh owed that aPCI combined with dysphagia(P=0.000,OR=9.110),persistent hiccup(P=0.002,OR=7.899),sudden deafness(P=0.004,OR=15.010)all suggested poor prognosis, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions Acataposis, persistent hiccup and sudden deafness are independent risk factors for poor prognosis in patients with acute posterior circulation cerebral infarction.Figure0;Table3;Reference 119...
