Objective: This study used VOSviewer visual analysis software to analyze the literature related to the field of acupuncture for polycystic ovary syndrome, and to reveal the research hotspots and speculate the future development trend in this field by systematically summarizing the literature published in this field, the main research institutions, core authors and high-frequency keywords,so as to provide reference for clinical work and scientific research. Methods: This study searched for all the articles published in China Knowledge Network(China Academic Journals Online Publishing Database),Chongqing Weipu Information(Chinese Science and Technology Journals Database),Wanfang Journal Database and Web of Science Core Collection(WOS CC)from January 1,1992 to December 31,2022.The literature related to acupuncture and polycystic ovary syndrome in the Web of Science Core Collection(WOS CC)database. The bibliometric analysis was based on the visualisation software VOSviewer, which analysed the retrieved data using descriptive statistics,co-occurrence analysis and cluster analysis.Descriptive statistical analysis was applied to analyse the year of publication and the journal of publication for the journal literature data in the field of acupuncture for polycystic ovary syndrome;the year of publication and the degree awarding unit for the Ph D thesis data. The authors, institutions and keywords in the literature data of acupuncture for polycystic ovary syndrome were analysed using co-occurrence and cluster analysis to identify the active authors and institutions in the field and the hot spots and frontiers of research in the field. Results: 1.During the period from 1 January 1992 to 31 December 2022,a total of 2633 Chinese literature,309 Ph D theses and 220 English literature were retrieved.819 Chinese literature,228 Ph D theses and 146 English literature were included after excluding those that did not meet the requirements. The number of literature publications in this research area is on an overall upward trend.Among them, studies of Chinese literature peaked at96 in 2019 and studies of English literature peaked at 20 in 2021,with the number of publications in both Chinese and English literature falling back slightly in recent two years;the highest number of doctoral dissertations published was 33,appearing in 2019,but since then, the number of publications has fallen off a cliff. The highest number of publications in the Chinese journal literature included in the study is the 《Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 》,with 37 articles;half of the top ten publications are in core journals;the highest number of publications in the English journal literature is in 《 Evidence based complementary and alternative medicine》,and most of the top ten publications are concentrated in Zone 4 The research institution with the highest number of articles in Chinese in this research area is Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, with few cross-regional and cross-institutional collaborations due to geographical constraints. The univ of gothenburg has the highest number of articles in English, and the main research institutions are not restricted by geographical areas and have many cross-regional collaborations.Inaddition,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has the highest number of doctoral degrees awarded in the field of acupuncture for polycystic ovary syndrome, with 48 articles.3.The largest number of articles published in both English and Chinese literature on this field were published by Wu Xiuke’s team from Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and stener-victorin,elisabet’s team from univ of gothenburg,respectively.4.Keyword clustering and co-occurrence knowledge map of Chinese and English journals shows that these keyword involve scientific research methods, such as clinical observation, review, etc;Chinese medicine measures for treating diseases, such as acupoint line embedding, electric acupuncture and fire acupuncture,Chinese medicine syndrome, such as kidney deficiency and liver depression;special acupuncture methods, such as acupuncture. Conclusions: For the period from 1 January 1992 to 31 December 2022,studies in the Chinese literature were dominated by Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine and the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, while studies in the English literature were dominated by univ gothenburg and karolinska institute.Research hotspots in the field of acupuncture for polycystic ovary syndrome include mechanistic studies, acupuncture directions,TCM evidence patterns, special acupuncture methods and research methods. In addition, the results of this study show that the mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome is both a hot topic and a trend for future research. |
