The voice is an important external manifestation of the body’s vital activities, and its formation requires the joint participation of the body’s five internal organs,qi,blood and meridians.Chinese medicine has significant advantages in the treatment of voice and sound disorders such as mute and laryngeal paralysis. However, there is a lack of systematic research and discussion on theories related to voice and sound.Although there are clinical applications of phonation in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine(hereinafter referred to as "Nei Jing"),the theory has not been fully explored and systematized, resulting in a lack of Chinese medical theory to guide the clinical treatment of related diseases and a lack of unified understanding. In view of this, the aim of this study is to systematize theories related to the sound of sound in Chinese medicine,to enrich and supplement the system of sound-related diseases in the Nei Jing, and to provide a basis for the clinical treatment of sound-related diseases.Translated with www.Deep L.com/Translator(free version)This study mainly adopts theoretical research methods such as literature excavation, collation of ancient texts, exegesis and annotation, tracing the origins, basing on traditional Chinese medical thinking, referring to the opinions of various schools of thought, combining ancient medical texts and modern literature, collecting, collating, comparing and summarising, seeking to sort out the meanings of the sounds in the Nei Jing, accurately interpreting the sound constants in the Nei Jing, analysing and summarising the diseases of the sounds in the Nei Jing, and summarising the uses of the sounds in the Nei Jing. This article first examines the development of the origins of the terms’ sound’ and ’yin’,and identifies the differences between ’sound’ and ’yin’.In the early days, the terms ’sound’ and ’yin’ were originally different in meaning, with sound being the basis of yin and yin being the combination of sound.Secondly, the mechanism of sound formation is discussed, including three aspects.First, the pharynx is the seat of sound. It is believed that the pharynx is the channel through which water and grain flow from the mouth to the stomach, including the oesophagus, while the larynx is the channel through which respiratory gases rise and fall, including the trachea. The epididymis, lips, tongue, uvula and other structures assist in sound production.Secondly, the five organs are the source of sound formation. The heart is the master of the sound, the liver is the agent of the sound, the lungs are the gate of the sound, the spleen is the source of the sound, and the kidneys are the root of the sound;at the same time, the specific contents of the five organs are analysed.Thirdly,qi and blood are the basis for the formation of sound. In addition,it compares the sound and voice disorders in the Nei Jing, such as hoarseness, low voice, weak voice, loss of voice, the five sound disorders, and sound-related disorders such as laryngeal paralysis, laryngeal outpatient, laryngeal turbulence, and laryngeal congestion. It summarises the causes and mechanisms of the voice and sound diseases in the Nei Jing, such as the six external diseases that affect the throat, the seven internal injuries to the qiqi, the inappropriate diet and the internal growth of phlegm, the lack of rest and relaxation, the loss of vitality and blood, and the lack of harmony between yin and yang. The principles of the treatment of voice disorders in the Nei Jing are extracted,as well as external treatments such as acupuncture, plastering and throat blowing, and internal treatments such as dispersing external evil, regulating the internal organs, and removing phlegm and stasis.Again, the application of theories related to sound in the Nei Jing is summarised in the diagnosis, and the Yin and Yang of the internal organs and the changes in Qi deficiency are diagnosed through the identification of sound. The meaning of the five sounds, the relationship between the five sounds and the five viscera, the mechanism of healing by the five sounds, and methods of prevention and treatment such as vocal training and voice training are explained. Finally, other sounds in the Nei Jing are given as examples and discussed slightly, such as coughing, intestinal tones and erratic sounds. This thesis taps into the classics and returns to the classics, and seeks to systematize theories related to the sound of Chinese medicine by organizing the sound of the Nei Jing, enriching the content of Chinese medicine sniffing, highlighting the characteristics of Chinese medicine, and guiding clinical application.
