Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Mongolian medicine acupuncture moxibustion therapy on hemifacial spasm, and provide a safe and effective treatment scheme for hemifacial spasm. Methods:From December 2021 to January 2023,85 patients with hemifacial spasm who met the inclusion criteria were selected from the outpatient department of traditional therapy, the outpatient department of encephalopathy or the inpatient department of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Minzu University. They were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.42 cases in the treatment group were treated with Mongolian medicine acupuncture combined with moxibustion. The acupuncture points were Meisan,Ophthalmopathy and Koukou.Moxibustion points: Dinghui point;43 cases in the control group were treated with acupuncture therapy of Mongolian medicine, and the acupuncture points were Meisan,Ophthalmopathy and Koukou. Both groups were treated continuously for 14 days. The changes of Cohen’s spasm intensity grading,Penn’s spasm frequency grading and Mongolian medicine symptom score observation table were observed and recorded before treatment, one week after treatment and after treatment, and the overall curative effect of the two groups was evaluated. Results: 1.Total clinical curative effect: The total effective rate of the treatment group was86.8%,and that of the control group was 73.0%,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.05),indicating that the curative effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group.2.The general information(sex, age, course of disease)and the classification of spasticity intensity and spasticity frequency before treatment between the two groups were comparable(P >0.05).3.Cohen: Intra-group comparison: The differences between the two groups before treatment, after treatment for one week and at the end of treatment were statistically significant(P < 0.05);Comparison between the two groups: There was significant difference between the two groups at the end of the first week of treatment(P<0.05).4.Spastic frequency grading(Penn): Intra-group comparison: The differences between the two groups before treatment, after treatment for one week and at the end of treatment were statistically significant(P <0.05).Comparison between the two groups: There was significant difference between the two groups at the end of the first week of treatment(P <0.05).5.Symptom score: Intra-group comparison: The differences between the two groups before treatment, after treatment for one week and at the end of treatment were statistically significant(P < 0.05);Comparison between groups: The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion:1.Mongolian medicine acupuncture moxibustion therapy is effective in treating hemifacial spasm.2.Mongolian medicine acupuncture therapy and acupuncture combined with moxibustion therapy can improve clinical symptoms(insomnia, anxiety, dizziness and tinnitus, etc.)and reduce the intensity(Cohen)and frequency(Penn)of spasm, but Mongolian medicine acupuncture combined with moxibustion therapy is better than simple acupuncture therapy.3.Acupuncture moxibustion therapy of Mongolian medicine has the characteristics of simple operation, economic safety and no toxic and side effects,so it is necessary to use it in clinic and make a deeper study on it.
