Oral paste is one of the oldest dosage forms of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),it is widely used in internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics and other departments of diseases and patients with physical deficiency, because of it has the advantages of high concentration, small size, medicinal taste pure, smell sweet, easy to store, easy to take, etc. At present, modern disinfection and sterilization technology is often used to extend the service life of the paste recipe. However,in ancient times, the ancients had found the deterioration of medicine and food, and took a variety of active and effective measures to preserve medicine and food, although they did not master the knowledge of microbiology, did not understand the principle of preventing the deterioration of medicine and food.By combing the history of TCM oral paste,it is found that the traditional TCM oral paste antisepsis method had experienced heating sterilization in pre-Qin and Han dynasties, and used auxiliary materials for antisepsis in Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern dynasties.By Tang and Song dynasties,it had formed a comprehensive antisepsis mode using heating, auxiliary materials, utensils, and standard for receiving paste, which was inherited and further developed in Ming and Qing dynasties. Therefore, this article takes the oral paste from the Tang and Song dynasties as the research object, which have a transitional role in the development of oral paste.By using the methods of literary research and comparative analysis, the anti-corrosion techniques of oral paste from the Tang and Song dynasties are analyzed to explore the anti-corrosion techniques of ancient oral paste.Through meticulous investigation,it has been discovered that ancient societies implemented various measures to counteract factors contributing to decay, such as microorganisms, moisture, enzymes, and oxygen.Furthermore,it has been observed that the preservation techniques used in ancient oral paste was influenced by a multitude of factors, including advancements in social science and technology,as well as developments in cultural and philosophical thought.Firstly, the development of anti-corrosion technology for ancient oral paste was a comprehensive process that absorbed and integrated various technologies such as brewing,vinegar-making,salt-making,sugar-making,beekeeping,mining,and porcelain-making,into the TCM processing technology and TCM health preservation ideology and culture.Secondly, the evolution of preservation techniques in ancient oral paste was sustained,as the Tang dynasty enriched the auxiliary materials and instruments used in the processing of medicinal herbs, while the Song dynasty further developed these techniques based on the foundation laid by the Tang dynasty. The existing technology and techniques provided material and experiential support for new technologies, which were innovatively developed on the basis of inheritance, enabling the preservation techniques in ancient ointments to endure over time.Thirdly, there is often a lag between technological invention and its application in production processes. The preservation techniques used in contemporary ointment-making processes still bear the characteristics of those from previous eras, which have been inherited and continued.Fourthly, the choice of techniques has a degree of autonomy in relation to technological invention. The preservation techniques used in ancient oral paste was not always passively influenced by scientific technology but could actively absorb and selectively apply technological inventions according to their own development needs, even when in a passive position.Fifthly, the preservation techniques used in ancient oral paste was unconscious, influenced by traditional Chinese pragmatism, which relied on experience-based knowledge. The ancient practitioners did not understand the mechanism of preservation, but instead developed their preservation techniques based on accumulated experience gained through prolonged social practice. In summary, this paper’s topic on the study of the anti-corrosion technology of ancient oral paste is of great significance. On the one hand, the effective anti-corrosion means of oral paste from single anti-corrosion methods to a multi-faceted anti-corrosion system have been tested and inherited for thousands of years. This is essential for the development of contemporary TCM preparations, ensuring national health and the operation of social economy. On the other hand, the anti-corrosion technology of oral paste embodies the thinking wisdom of ancient people and has historical and cultural value. It is beneficial to promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
