Acupuncture Treatment Of Stroke Literature Before Tang Dynasty

Objective,Wind-strike is a common disease in clinic,which features with high rate of morbidity,recurrence,mortality and disability.With a long history,acupuncture plays an important role in treating wind-strike among the Chinese therapies.Recently,there are two main problem for the inherence and development of acupuncture preventing and treating wind-strike.One is that the literature records about acupuncture treating wind-strike are scattered in different acupuncture or formula books,which causes difficulties to consulting and researching.The other one is that some of the ancient well-developed theories were overlooked or even lost,and the existing literatures did not answer in detail the overall situation of acupuncture treating wind-strike in history,only made some rough statistics with bibliometric methods.In view of this,this study combed and investigated the real history of acupuncture treating wind-strike,in order to provide the accurate theory and reference for clinical use.Methods,Archival Research method,bibliometric method,dynastic history study method and summarizing method are mainly applied in this study.In consideration of the mass of study and the contemporary features of acupuncture,this study focused on the acupuncture literatures before Tang dynasty.Firstly,select the aim literatures from Chinese Acupuncture Document by looking up the abstracts and the contents of aim literatures,and five literatures about acupuncture treating wind-strike were selected,which are The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic,The Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,Emergency Forrmulas to Keep Up One’s Sleeve,Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces for Emergency and Supplement to Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces.In the order of history,the contents were settled and the etiology,pathogenesis and acupuncture treating methods were summarized.Among which,the features of acupuncture therapy in different ages were mainly studied.Results,1.The academic source and development of acupuncture treating wind-strike were combed systematically from the classics from the early Qin dynasty to Tang dynasty.There’s no many clear acupuncture treating methods in The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic according to the verified internal causes of wind-strike.As for the external cause which is manifested of evil qi,the principle of acupuncture is to reinforcing deficiency and reducing excess,and to acupuncture on the boundary between muscles.As for coma caused by wind-strike,the acupuncture methods on five acupoints and the medicine therapy were recorded on it.As a fundamental classic of Chinese medicine theory,The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic has explained much about the etiology and pathogenesis of wind-strike,and that the developments of the theories in later ages could be traced back to it.Yet there’s few explanation about acupuncture treating wind-strike,and there’s few records or applications about acupuncture treating wind-strike by needling the boundary between muscles,and there are only two clearing up acupuncture methods are still used in a small scale.The Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion has inherited the theory of wind-strike in The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic,It selects the acupoints precisely,mostly are the local acupoints,sometimes it also combined with distal acupoints and selects the acupoints in accordance with different syndromes.On this period,the experiences of the acupoints treating certain diseases were developed,which was a great leap compare to the era of The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic,some of the methods are still used today.Emergency Formulas to Keep Up One’s Sleeve has developed in a certain about acupuncture treating wind-strike compare to The Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,especially in moxibustion therapy.And it has put forward the tools for moxibustion therapy in treating wind-prevalent migratory bi and paralysis caused by wind-strike,which is still used today.Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces for Emergency and Supplement to Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces are two masterpieces in Tang dynasty,and were honored as the first clinical encyclopedia.In the books,there are more records about moxibustion than acupuncture,and the amount of moxibustion varies with different diseases.In addition,it emphasis the order of the acupoints used,which may be for the purpose of guiding the movement of wind-evil.Significance,This study has combed the basic features of acupuncture treating wind-strike before Tang dynasty,and to provide a detailed reference for the clinical use and research.
