| Objective To explore the life meaning experience of adolescent depression patients with non-suicidal self-injury,so as to reveal the formation source of life meaning in this group,to obtain a deep understanding of this special group,to provide clues for suicide risk assessment in clinical nursing services,and to provide reference for carrying out targeted psychological intervention.Methods Using qualitative descriptive research,teenagers depression patients with self-injury behavior were selected through purposive sampling in psychosomatic department in a hospital in zhejiang province.Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect data,audio interviews were transcribed into words and data were anlayzed using conventional content analysis.Themes were extracted through constant coding and categorizing.Results A total of 14 adolescent patients with depression and non-suicidal self-injury were interviewed.Two themes and five sub-themes were obtained through analysis:1.Experience of meaning of life:the view of meaning of one’s life and the meaning of living;2.Sources of life meaning:scapegoat of parents’ emotions,unmet love needs,and too high expectations.Conclusions The meaning of life experience for this group is generally negative.Most of the subjects indicateed that life was meaningless;Some subjects reported living for people they cared about or living for pleasure;Meaning in life is mainly formed by family and peers,such as being scapegoats for parents’ emotions,unmet love needs and too high expectations.This group of people have many troubles in psychological growth,clinical nurses should provide targeted psychological support according to their psychological feelings;At the same time,families and society should provide more care to promote their physical and mental health. |
