ObjectiveTo investigate the current situation of midwives’ humanistic care ability,work engagement,presenteeism and emotional labor,to explore the internal relationship and mechanism of midwives’ humanistic care ability,work engagement,presenteeism and emotional labor,and to analyze the mediating effect of presenteeism and emotional labor on humanistic care ability and work engagement.In order to provide practical guidance for the promotion of midwives’ mental health and humanistic service and optimize the management of midwives’ human resources,promoting maternal and child health,and improving delivery outcomes.MethodsFrom June to August,2021,429 midwives from 20 tertiary general hospitals and women-children special hospitals in Qingdao were selected by convenient sampling method.The general data questionnaire,Humanistic care ability Scale,Work engagement Scale,emotional Labor Scale and Stanford Presenteeism Scale were used to conduct a questionnaire survey.SPSS 23.0 software was used for data entry and analysis,and the demographic data and the status of each variable were statistically described.The influence of demographic data on each variable was analyzed by independent sample T test or oneway ANOVA.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between variables.Hayes Process3.4 software was used to build a structural equation model to explore the action path of each variable.Results1.The total score of humanistic care ability of midwives was(188.84±24.33).The mean score of dimensions from high to low were patience,cognition and courage.The total score of midwife’s work engagement was(59.37±20.78).The mean score of dimensions from high to low were dedication,concentration and vitality.The total score of presenteeism of midwives was(15.90±4.82).The total score of emotional labor of midwives was(51.49±12.77).The mean score of dimensions from high to low were surface acting,emotional expression and deep acting.2.There were statistically significant differences in the scores of midwives’ humanistic care ability and work engagement in terms of length of service(P < 0.05);There was statistical significance in midwives’ emotional labor score in professional title(P < 0.05).There was significant difference in the score of Presenteeism of midwives in terms of working hours and children(P < 0.05).3.The results of correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between work engagement of midwives and humanistic care ability(r=0.567,P < 0.01)and deep role of emotional labor(r=0.203,P < 0.01).There was a negative correlation between work engagement and presenteeism(r=-0.393,P < 0.01)and surface role of emotional labor(r=-0.402,P < 0.01).There was negative correlation between humanistic care ability and presenteeism(r=-0.410,P < 0.01),surface acting of emotional labor(r =-0.339,P < 0.01),emotional expression ability(r =-0.106,P < 0.05),and positive correlation between humanistic care ability and deep acting of emotional labor(r=0.327,P < 0.01).Presenteeism was positively correlated with surface acting(r =0.462,P < 0.01)and emotional expression ability(r =0.265,P < 0.01).4.The structural equation model showed that the presenteeism of midwives partially mediated the relationship between humanistic care ability and work engagement,with a mediating effect value of 0.066,accounting for 13.41% of the total effect.The deep acting dimension of emotional labor moderates the first half path of the mediation effect(b=-0.099,P=0.003),that is,the model has a moderated mediation effect.Conclusion1.This study shows that midwives in tertiary hospital of Qingdao are at a low level of humanistic care ability,a medium level of work engagement,a medium high level of presenteeism and a medium high level of emotional labor.2.Among the general demographic variables,midwives’ length of service,professional title,daily working hours and children’s situation have certain influence on humanistic care ability,work engagement,presenteeism and emotional labor.3.Midwives’ humanistic care ability,presenteeism,emotional labor is significantly correlated with work engagement.4.Invisible absenteeism mediates the relationship between humanistic care ability and work engagement.Deep acting can mediate the mediating effect of recessive absenteeism between humanistic caring ability and work engagement. |
