Objective1 The aims of this study are introducing the English version of the Nurse Social Responsibility Questionnaire(NSRQ),translate,back-translate and cross-culturally adapt it,and conduct a reliability test of the questionnaire in our cultural context to form a Chinese version of the NSRQ.2 The Chinese version of NSRQ was initially applied to clinical nurses in China to understand the current situation of nurses’social responsibility and analyze its influencing factors,in an attempt to make suggestions for the development of relevant training strategies, and then provide a reference basis for improving nurses’awareness of social responsibility and cultivating a socially responsible nursing team.MethodsThe first part:Authorization for the original NSRQ was obtained, the English version of the NSRQ was back-translated according to the Brislin model, and the content of the Chinese version of the NSRQ was cross-culturally adapted using the expert consultation method and a pre-survey.Furthermore,the Chinese version of the NSRQ was used to facilitate the selection of 643 clinical nurses from tertiary hospitals in Shandong Province to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire, and the results were compiled and analyzed with the help of Excel,SPSS25.0,and AMOS24.0 software. The validity of the questionnaire was evaluated by content validity, structural validity, convergent validity and discriminant validity, among which structural validity was evaluated by Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA)and Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA);the reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated by internal consistency,Guttman split-half reliability, retest reliability and combined reliability. The second part:A convenience sampling method was used to select 908 nurses from three tertiary level A general hospitals and two secondary level A hospitals in Shandong Province for the survey. The General Information Questionnaire, the Chinese version of the NSRQ,the Volunteer Motivation Scale, and the Pro-Social Behavior Tendency Scale were used;the collected data were processed and analyzed using Excel,SPSS25.0software for the general information of the study subjects, the current status of the level of social responsibility of clinical nurses, and the significant influence of nurses’social responsibility factors, statistical methods used were descriptive statistics,Pearson correlation analysis,one-way analysis of variance and multiple linear regression.ResultsThe first part:The English version of the NSRQ was translated and back-translated to merge and delete the questionnaire items based on expert opinions, and the questionnaire was revised based on the pre-survey results, resulting in a total of nine revisions. The Chinese version of the NSRQ formed 25 items with 4 dimensions, namely professional responsibility(12 items),nursing management(4 items),ethics and morality(4 items),and professional skills(5 items). The results of the item analysis showed that the critical ratio values of CR for each item of the questionnaire ranged from 4.867 to 16.765(P<0.05),and the correlation coefficients of each item with the total score of the questionnaire ranged from 0.592 to 0.860(P<0.05).The questionnaire content validity Index I-CVI was 0.80 to 1.00 and Scale Content Validity Index S-CVI/Ave was 0.948.The overall reliability of the questionnaire was 0.960 and the Cronbach’sαcoefficient of0.875~0.962,retest reliability of 0.887,and Guttman split-half coefficient of 0.943;exploratory factor analysis extracted four common factors with factor loadings ranging from 0.452 to 0.884,and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 75.119%.The results of the validation factor analysis showed that the chi-squared freedom ratio?~2/df=2.318,Root Mean Square Error of Approximation RMSEA=0.053,Normed Fit Index NFI=0.912,Incremental Fit Index IFI=0.948,Comparative Fit Index CFI=0.952,GFI Goodness-of-Fit Index GFI=0.902.The second part:The total score of nurses’social responsibility was(109.10±14.25),and the mean score of each entry was(4.35±0.57),which was moderately high compared to the score mean, and the highest mean score was for the professional responsibility dimension, and the lowest mean score was for the nursing management dimension. The results of the analysis of variance suggested that age, title, marital status, employment mode, years of work, and whether they had participated in The results of the analysis of variance suggest that the sociodemographic variables such as age, title, marital status, employment mode, length of service, and whether or not they have participated in the prevention and control of the new crown epidemic have significant variance on nurses’self-leadership(P<0.05).Volunteer motivation and pro-social behavior tendencies are all related to nurses’social responsibility(P<0.05).The results of the regression analysis showed that length of service, age, title, altruism, emergency, social interaction, career development,self-protection,and whether or not they have participated in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic are the the main factors of nurses’social responsibility.Conclusions1 The Chinese version of the NSRQ has clear items and easy-to-understand content, and can be used to measure the level of social responsibility of nurses in China and the Chinese version of the NSRQ that was developed was tested and showed good reliability and validity among clinical nurses.2 The overall level of social responsibility of clinical nurses in this study is in the middle to upper level and needs to be further improved;years of work, motivation to volunteer and pro-social behavior tendency are the influencing factors of nurses’social responsibility.
