Objective:This study aimed to investigate the current situation of nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain, and explore the relationship among organizational support and social support,in order to effectively reduce nurse turnover rate for nurses and managers, increase nurses’ professional value identity, target nurses’ situational competence, and provide reference theory for the effective improvement of the level. Methods:This research study adopted a stratified overall sampling method to select a sample of 485 clinical nurses from four tertiary and secondary hospitals in Wuhan,Hubei Province during the period from May 2021 to September 2021 as the study population for the questionnaire survey, including two general hospitals including a tertiary class A hospital and a secondary class A hospital. The survey instruments were: 1)a self-administered questionnaire on general information of nurses 2)a scale on nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain prepared by Ji Jiamei 3)a revised scale on perception of organizational support prepared by Zuo Hongmei 4)a scale on perception of social support prepared by Xiao Shuihui. The data obtained were statistically analysed using SPSS22.0 data statistical software.General information of the respondents, the current status of the nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain scale, the organizational support scale and the social support scale were assessed using descriptive statistics,t-test and one-way ANOVA.Multiple linear regression analysis and mediation effect analysis were used to explore the linear regression relationship between organizational support and social support on nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain.Results:1.Analysis of the current situation of nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain. The actual score of the nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain was(105.65±19.67),with a score rate of 84.52%,which is in the middle to upper range. The four dimensions were ranked from highest to lowest: ability to assess professional values(86.1%),ability to perceive professional beliefs(85.72%),ability to comprehend professional connotations(84.08%)and ability to internalise professional values(82.68%).After t-test or one-way ANOVA comparisons, the differences in nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain scores were statistically significant(p< 0.05)for comparisons in terms of age, marital status, different job titles, different monthly incomes, and different departments in the general data, but not for comparisons in terms of years of experience, hospital rank, highest level of education, type of employment, and whether or not they attended emotional training(p> 0.05).2.Current status of perception of organizational support and social support The actual score of organizational support was(47.58±12.42)with a mean score of(3.76±0.90),which is at an intermediate level.the mean scores of the two dimensions,in descending order, were as follows: instrumental support(3.71±0.94)and emotional support(3.52±1.04);the actual score of social support was(42.33±9.44)with a mean score of(4.23 The actual score of social support was(42.33 ± 9.44),with a mean score of(4.23 ± 0.94),which is in the medium range. The mean scores for the three dimensions were ranked from highest to lowest as follows: subjective support(6.01 ± 1.40),social support(3.34 ± 1.25),and use of social support(2.75 ± 0.69).3.Correlation between nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain, sense of organizational support and sense of social support Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain, organizational support and social support in terms of total score and each dimension(p<0.05).4.The interaction between nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain, organizational support and social support The linear regression analysis showed that the organizational support score had a significant positive predictive effect on the nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain score(p<0.05);the social support score had a significant positive predictive effect on the nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain score(p<0.05);and the mediating effect of social support between nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain and organizational support was significant(p<0.05).Conclusions:1.Nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain score is at the middle to upper level and has more room for improvement. To improve nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain, managers can intervene in terms of clinical nurses’ different ages, marital status, titles, monthly incomes and departments.2.Organizational support scores were at an intermediate level, with instrumental support being higher than emotional support;social support was at an intermediate level, with the dimensions scoring in order of subjective support, objective support, and use of society. The level of both organizational and social support of nursing staff needs to be further improved.3.Organizational and social support can directly and positively influence nurses’ ability assessment in affective domain score, which suggests that nursing managers should create a supportive working atmosphere for nurses and pay attention to the social support aspect of nurses. This study aimed to increase nurses’ sense of professional value identification, thus reducing the willingness to leave and enhancing professional feelings and beliefs, informing hospital nursing managers and providing a basis for improving the quality of nurse care.
