Fang Yizhi was a famous literary scholar in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and his literary achievements were highly regarded by the people of his time and have great research value. As a scholar of the encyclopedic school,in addition to literature,Fang Yizhi was also proficient in philosophy, medicine, science, and other disciplines, showing an integrated academic path, and his literary thoughts and creations were thus influenced by various disciplines, including medicine, with great characteristics. The ideas of Fang Yizhi, namely,"Collecting all","to give medicine in response to disease" and "to bring about harmony",contain a complete logic of medical treatment, which provides the possibility of realizing the rendezvous of literature and medicine. There is a relationship between the ruler, the minister, and the adjuvant in the collection.Fang Yizhi treat elegance as the ruler, and Genre-specific poems as the minister. The poetic spirit of grievance and the poetry of the middle edge are the supporting factors, which construct a complete literary theoretical framework and form an inclusive standard of literary criticism. The medicine for the disease is the integration of the idea of the three causes on the basis of dialectic, and its inherent logic is the ever-changing nature of medicine.Fang Yizhi’s thesis does not change for the worse because of the constancy, but can be adapted to the time and to the person, and is quite eager to prescribe the right medicine to eliminate the evils of the time.To bring about harmony is a state of dynamic balance based on the reconciliation of yin and yang. The so-called neutralization of Fang Yizhi had different connotations at different times,of which the later period was based on the thesis of temperance and abreaction, trying to correct the disease of paranoia. On this basis,he believed that resentment and anger also lead to neutral harmony, thus presenting the expression of true nature.Fang Yizhi’s writings also contain many medical elements, especially his writings on illnesses. These writings on illnesses are either a resignation from the government,an expression of emotion through illness,or a theory of medicine, all of which contain profound values. In Shi Ci Shu,he writes about illness to convey his compulsion to resign from his official position, trying to achieve intervention in political reality while preserving himself. In Liu Yu Cao,his illness is related to filial piety, showing his concern for his father staying in Tongcheng. In Liu Li Cao,his illness is linked to loyalty, expressing his commitment to the will of his people. In Yao Di Pao Zhuang,he reveals the ills of the world through his illnesses, showing his concern for the country and the people.Fang Yizhi’s writing on illness is closely linked to emotions, and at the same time, illness is one of the ways he uses to vent his emotions and refine his will. There are traces of the convergence of medical and literary in Fang Yizhi’s thought and creation, which is also a concrete manifestation of his thought of convergence. This rendezvous of literature and medicine has a profoundly realistic meaning, showing Fang Yizhi’s thought of healing the world and helping the people.Fang Yizhi believed that "the essay is the way of nature",so he took it as his duty to write about reality and to alert the world, with a profound sense of reality and worry. The convergence of medicine and literature also implies Fang’s use and development of the therapeutic function of literature. He not only treats himself with literature, but also heals the world with literature, trying to realize his ideal of reviving Confucianism and saving the Taoist tradition by combining the three religions.Fang Yizhi’s literature is closely related to medicine, and the imprint of medicine permeates from literary thought to creative practice. In the context of the change of dynasties in the Ming and Qing dynasties, this convergence phenomenon has certain universality and greater practical significance.
