Objective: Based on the theory of "bone-restoration and tendon-softening",the clinical means of treating Knee Osteoarthritis(KOA)with electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training were used to explore the effectiveness of comprehensive therapy on the lower limb muscle group, joint force line and other influencing factors of the occurrence and development of arthritis in PATIENTS with KOA.To verify the guiding value of the TCM guiding thought of "normal bone and soft tendon" in practical clinical application and provide objective scientific basis for clinical treatment of KOA.Methods: The subjects of this study were 68 KOA patients from January 2021 to December2021,who met the inclusion criteria and signed informed consent voluntarily in the rehabilitation outpatient department and orthopedic Outpatient Department of Zhangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine affiliated to Fujian University of Chinese Medicine. Two groups were set up in this study.Infrared irradiation and oral celecoxib were used as routine basic treatment, balance and proprioception training were used as control group,electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training were used as observation group, and the two groups were compared within and between groups. After 4weeks of intervention, the changes of knee arthritis Rating Scale(WOMAC),joint Angle(Q Angle and knee flexion Angle),muscle strength(MVC),balance and proprioception were observed in the experimental group and the control group before and after treatment. Results: 1.Before treatment, there was no significant difference in general information,BMI score, course of disease and severity between the two groups, indicating comparability(P>0.05).2.WOMAC Score: After 4 weeks of treatment, the WOMAC score was lower in both groups than before(P<0.05)and the improvement of WOMAC score in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).3.Q Angle and knee flexion Angle: After 4 weeks of treatment, although Q Angle in both groups was lower than before treatment(P>0.05),but there was no significant difference between and within groups(P>0.05),the knee flexion Angle in the observation group increased compared with before treatment(P<0.05),but there was no significant change in the control group(P>0.05).4.Maximum isometric contractility(MVC)of quadriceps femoris: After 4 weeks of treatment, the maximum isometric contractility(MVC)of quadriceps femoris was increased in both groups compared with before treatment(P< 0.05),There was no significant difference in the control group before and after treatment(P>0.05),and the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).5.Balance and proprioception: after 4 weeks of treatment, the left and right axes, anterior and posterior axes, and circumference axes of the observation group and the control group were reduced(P<0.05),and the reduction degree of left and right axis, anterior and posterior axis and circumferential axis in the observation group was greater than that in the control group(P<0.05),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions: 1.Electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training improved the functional status of KOA patients better than the control group.2.Electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training improved the quadriceps muscle strength of KOA patients better than the control group.3.Electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training improved the lower limb force line(Q Angle and knee flexion Angle)in KOA patients better than the control group.4.Electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training improved the balance and proprioception ability(left and right axis, anterior and posterior axis and circular axis)of KOA patients better than the control group.5.The improvement of KOA patients by electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training conforms to the traditional Chinese medicine theory of "bone-restoration and tendon-softening",and the improvement of the curative effect of electro-acupuncture combined with balance and proprioception training on osteoarthritis muscle and bone indexes may delay the development of the disease.
