Objective1.To improve the production method of nighttime scoliosis orthopedic brace with3 D printing technology.2.Observe the clinical treatment effect of nighttime brace and evaluate the correlation between compliance and brace efficacy.Methods1.A female AIS patient was recruited from our outpatient clinic after a brace was prescribed,The patient’s trunk were scanned by 3D scanner to creat a model,simple processing in Artec studio and saving as the STL format import into Geomagic for further processing,then import the model into Solidworks to operate virtual orthopedics after exactitude surface was finished and into the 3-matic,magics completion of design brace’s geometry.Finally,the use of 3D printing technology to complete the brace and test its orthopedic effect.2.Select the female AIS patients treated with brace from May 2015 to June 2017 in our hospital.According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,a total of 14 AIS patients were included,reviewed the standing X radiographs of the spine without the brace every 6 months,and scored on the patient’s treatment compliance.Results1.The use of 3D printing technology successfully produced a comfortable,inexpensive nighttime brace,and obtained a good in-brace correction.2.A total of 14 AIS patients were enrolled in this study,aged 12.9±1.8(9-15)years,Risser 1.7±0.8(0-3),and pretreatment cobb angle 35.7±9.3°(20-50°).After the cobb angle was 31.0±9.4°(15.5-45°)and the compliance score was 4.0±1.4(2-6),except one patient who treatment failure because of poor compliance,the average correction rate of bracing was 16.4%±7.3%(0-26.9%),13 cases(92.9%)were successful,and 1 case(7.1%)failed.The difference in cobb angle before and after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the correction rate and compliance of the brace were positively correlated(R=0.611,P=0.027).Conclusion1.The 3D scanning and 3D printing technology can improve the production method of the nighttime brace,improve the efficiency of the brace production and reduce the cost.At the same time,it obtains better comfort and in-brace correction,and has clinical application value.2.Nighttime brace treatment AIS has a good clinical efficacy,patients with good compliance will get a better brace correction effect.
