Smilax scobinicaulis is a woody lianas from the Smilax genus of Liliaceae,located in Shaanxi,Gansu,Sichuan,Hubei and other places.It is bitter and neutral in nature,possess abundant of biological activity such as anti-cancer,anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidation,antitumor.It can be used for the treatment of rheumatism,febrile convulsion,enteritis,cancer etc.The reports about chemical constituents focused on steroidal saponins at present,in order to elaborating material basis for bioactive,screening a variety of active ingredients,utilization the plant resources,the polyphenols and anthraquinone compounds from Smilax scobinicaulis were studied.This article describes the structure、classification、distribution、extraction、separation、identification and biological activity of polyphenols and anthraquinone compositions,summarizes the researches on chemical constituents and biological activity of Smilax scobinicaulis.In this study,the ethyl acetate and n-butanol extracts were separated and purified by various chromatographic methods including silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,ODS and MCI,also combining precipitation and crystallization.Their structures were obtained and identified on the physicochemical properties and analysis of spectroscopic data,the results are as follows:1.Ten polyphenols were resveratrol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-Dglucopyranoside(1),resveratrol(2),δ-viniferin(3),ethyl caffeate(4),1-O-caffeoyl-glycerol(5),1-O-p-coumaroylglycerol(6),1-O-feruloylglycerol(7),grossamide(8),moracin M(9),ethyl gallate(10).Compound 1 was a new compound and compounds 3~5,8~10were separated from this plant for the first time.2.Six anthraquinone compounds were aloe-emodin(1),rubiadin-l-methylether(2),1,3,6,8-tetrahydroxyanthraquinone(3),emodin(4),8-hydroxy-1-methoxy-3-methyl9,10-anthraquinone(5),chrysophanol(6).Compounds 1-6 were separated from this plant for the first time.
