| With the increase in the number of dogs in China,canine surgical diseases have also increased,of which fracture is the most common.The development of pet industry in foreign countries is earlier than that in China.There are many retrospective analysis reports on dog fracture,but there are few reports in China.The retrospective investigation and clinical evaluation of dog fracture cases will help to understand the occurrence of dog fracture disease,research and improve the treatment technology,which is of great significance to the prevention and treatment of dog fracture disease.In this study,the clinical cases of canine fractures in a pet hospital in Changsha from June 2018 to February 2021 were collected,and the history,diagnosis and treatment data were recorded.The canine fractures were retrospectively analyzed,and the clinical therapeutic effects of different types of canine fractures were evaluated from the aspects of claudication grading evaluation,clinical evaluation of pet owners,postoperative complications and cure rates.The occurrence and treatment effect of dog fracture disease in Changsha area were preliminarily explored to provide clinical basis for preventing the occurrence of dog fracture and improving the treatment of the disease.In this study,a total of 149 cases of dog fracture were collected.The retrospective investigation found that the main cause of fracture was traffic accident,accounting for89.3 %;bite accounted for 1.3 %;Stepping,jumping and other reasons accounted for 9.4 %.The most frequent sites of fracture were femur(63.1 %),followed by radial ulna(17.5 %),tibia and fibula(16.1 %),humerus(12.1 %),pelvis(7.4 %),thoracolumbar spine(6 %).The incidence of fracture in male dogs(59.1 %)was higher than that in female dogs(40.9 %).Fractures could occur in dogs of all ages.Most dogs over 1 year old(63.2 %),followed by dogs between 6 months and 1 year old(27.5 %)and dogs under 6 months old(9.4 %).The middle-sized dogs had the most fractures,accounting for 62.4 %,and the fracture rate of Poodle accounted for 32.2 %.Small dogs accounted for 23.5 %,large dogs accounted for 14.1 %.In surgical treatment,internal fixation is the most commonly used method,accounting for 96.6 %,external fixation accounted for 3.4 %.Through the evaluation of clinical treatment effect of different types of fractures,it was found that the cure rate of tibiofibular fracture was 100 %(24 / 24),and there was no complication.The cure rate of thoracolumbar fractures was low,only 55.6 %(5 / 9),and the incidence of complications was 44.4 %(4 / 9).The cure rate of radial ulna fracture was also 100 %(26 / 26),and the complication rate was 3.8 %(1 / 26).The cure rate of humeral fractures was 94.4 %(17 / 18),and the incidence of complications was 5.6 %(1 /18).The cure rate of femoral fracture was 100 %(61 / 61),and the incidence of complications was 1.6 %(1 / 61).The cure rate of pelvic fracture was 54.5 %(6 / 11),and the incidence of complications was 36.4 %(4 / 11).Patients with radial ulna fractures had shorter walking ability recovery time and average hospitalization time,which were 6.9 days and 8.3 days,respectively.Patients with thoracolumbar fractures had longer walking ability recovery time and average hospitalization time,which were 17.4 days and 33.6 days,respectively.This study found that the main found that the main reason for dog fracture was traffic accident,and the most frequent site was limbs.Dogs over 1 years old were more frequent,and the incidence of Poodle was higher.Internal fixation is the most commonly used treatment for fractures.The cure rate of limb fractures is higher and the complications are less,while the cure rates of pelvic and thoracolumbar fractures are lower and the complications are more. |
