| In recent years, with the continuous promotion of industrialization and urbanization and the development of diversification of farmers’income, leading to the gradual rise of the opportunity cost of labor for farming, coupled with the intensification of the aging of the agricultural population, the phenomenon of arable land abandonment has appeared in rural areas of China to varying degrees, which is particularly serious in individual areas, especially in some mountainous areas, causing a great waste of arable land resources, which not only affects China’s food security, but also seriously It not only affects our food security, but also seriously hinders the implementation of rural revitalization strategy. The spatial distribution of abandoned arable land and the causes of abandonment are important for strengthening arable land protection and ensuring stable food supply. This study defines abandoned arable land as arable land that has not been directly used for agricultural production for more than one year(including one year)due to the influence of various factors such as natural geography, social economy and policy system.Yushan County,Jiangxi Province was selected as the study area, and based on Google Earth high-resolution images,Sentinel 2 remote sensing images,DEM and survey questionnaire data, visual interpretation,CART decision tree classification, geographic concentration index, kernel density analysis and binary logistic regression analysis were used to extract information on Yushan County arable land and abandoned arable land, analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of abandoned arable land, and analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of abandoned arable land from The spatial distribution characteristics of abandoned cropland were analyzed, and the driving factors of abandonment were explored from the perspective of farmers. The main results are as follows.(1)The arable land area in Yushan County is 33,879.15 hm~2,accounting for 19.61%of the total land area in Yushan County.among the 18 townships, the township with the largest arable land area is Yanrui Township, accounting for 15.39%of the total arable land area in the county, and the township with the smallest arable land area is Sanqing Township, accounting for 1.08%of the total arable land area in the county.(2)The overall accuracy of abandoned arable land extracted by using CART decision tree classification method was 88.35%,and the Kappa coefficient was 0.8592,which could meet the demand of this experiment. The total area of abandoned arable land in Yushan County was 6749.92 hm~2,accounting for 19.92%of the total arable land in Yushan County.(3)Among the 18 townships, the largest abandoned arable land area is in Liudou Township, the highest abandoned rate is in Sanqing Township, and the most concentrated in this township, the smallest abandoned area and the most scattered is in Nanshan Township;although the abandoned arable land is mainly small and fragmented with an area of less than 0.5 hm~2,there are still large plots(more than 1 hm~2)distributed,especially in the central and southern part of Wencheng Township and the central part of Xiazhen Township. There are two areas with the most concentration;in the main arable land distribution area abandoned land has a pattern of increasing with altitude and slope.(4)The phenomenon of abandonment is more common in rural areas of Yushan County, among the 172 households studied, the abandoned households are as high as34.30%,and the abandonment rate of arable land is 11.01%;the abandonment of arable land is most significantly influenced by four factors:the average degree of labor force participation in agriculture, household income from farming, changes in agricultural income, and the size of arable land. |
