In the daily necessities of urban and rural residents, pork has an important position and role.Under the background of African swine fever epidemic,it is of great significance to study whether the pork consumption of urban and rural residents has changed and what are the factors influencing this change, and how to carry out the corresponding pork policy regulation is not only conducive to the pork consumption and production of urban and rural residents, but also conducive to further consolidate the well-off society in an all-round way. This paper obtains792 data from 29 provinces and cities in China through questionnaire survey.Through research and analysis, the following conclusions are drawn.First,in the context of African swine fever, great changes have taken place in pork consumption of urban and rural residents.Whether it is the consumption of pork or the average demand price elasticity of pork consumption, the pork consumption of rural residents is far more affected than that of urban residents.Second,in the analysis of the factors affecting pork consumption in urban and rural areas, this paper finds that gender, registered residence type, the highest education level of nuclear family, the core family population, the annual income of the core family, the psychological expectation of pork price, the preference of pork, the highest pork price in the local market will affect the consumption of pork in urban and rural areas.Besides, registered residence type, core family population, annual income of core families, psychological expectation of pork prices, and the highest price of pork in local market will affect the price elasticity of pork consumption demand of urban and rural residents.Thirdly,in the analysis of pork control policies for urban and rural residents in China,it is found that in terms of pork production control policies,China’s current control policies mainly include African swine fever prevention and control, pig breeding subsidies, delimitation of pig breeding forbidden areas, pig breeding land, and discount of working capital loans.Secondly,in the aspect of pork consumption control policy,it mainly includes several aspects, such as reserve meat supply, pork import, purchase and price restriction, etc.,and analyzes and summarizes the effect of each policy. Finally, this paper puts forward some suggestions: increase financial support for the poor groups in rural areas, especially low-income families,to ensure their basic pork demand;enhance the attention of rural pig retail investors;strengthen the land supply of farms;increase policy support for local pigs;reasonably control the scale of pork import.
