Publishing journal articles is one of the main ways for scholars to display their scientific research results. The quality of journal articles is affected by many factors, including citations.Scholars often refer to relevant literature in some fields when conducting research or writing a dissertation.References reflect scholars' references in their academic research, and they have an important impact on the content and quality of an academic paper. For domestic scholars, the references can be simply divided into Chinese references and foreign references by language, and the foreign references are mainly English.Due to language factors, under the same research needs,Chinese references will often become the first choice for domestic scholars, and some scholars may even ignore foreign literature because of this. However, the reference value of foreign language documents is obvious. Therefore, when scholars cite documents in their research, they should not limit their horizons to only Chinese documents. The citations of foreign literature can reflect the internationalization of scholars'research horizons. In order to reveal the value of foreign language literature in the research of dissertation papers in different disciplines,to encourage domestic scholars to open up research horizons and effectively use foreign language literature, this paper selects the fields of library and information science and crop science as research objects.First of all, this article uses a questionnaire survey method. The survey targets are reviewers of Chinese academic journals in the field of library information science and crop science.Reviewers are peers who have a good ability to judge the quality of academic research results, and are representatives of high research literacy in this field. The purpose of the survey was to explore their attitudes to the issue of "the impact of foreign language citation rates on the quality of papers in domestic journal articles." The results of the questionnaire show that reviewers in the field of library, information science and crop science generally have a positive attitude towards the value of foreign literature, and the attitude of crop science is stronger.Secondly, this article selects 40 journals in the field of library and information and 33 journals in the field of crop sciences collected by CNKI,and the data of the papers published in the five years from 2014 to 2018 as the research object. The ratio of the number to the total number of references(hereinafter referred to as the "foreign language citation rate")is used for statistics. Then, from the two aspects of the paper's citation number and the impact factor of the journal in which the paper is located,a correlation analysis between the two and the foreign language citation rate was conducted in order to answer whether a higher percentage of foreign language citations would help domestic scholars to produce The scientific issue of relatively high-quality scientific research results. The data results show that the journal citations in the fields of library information science and crop science have a positive correlation with the foreign language citation rate and the journal impact factor, and this correlation is higher in the field of crop science than in the field of library and information science. Finally,in this paper, the thesis analyzes the thesis in two areas, and divides the paper into a group with higher foreign citation rate and a group with lower foreign citation rate. The results show that the average number of citations of papers with higher foreign citation rates and the average impact factor of their published journals are higher than those with lower foreign citation rates.Based on the above research results, this article compares the fields of library and information science and crop science, and finds that reviewers in different fields think that foreign language citations are important to the research of domestic scholars. From an empirical level, the foreign citation rate and the average number of citations of the paper, and the journal impact factor are all related. Therefore,it can be explained that foreign literature has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of research. In terms of disciplinary differences, from the perspective of peers and empirical perspectives, the impact of foreign language citations on research quality is more fully reflected in the field of crop science.Based on previous studies by scholars, this article preliminarily believes that the role of foreign language citations in improving research quality is more significant in the field of natural sciences.
