As an important bargaining chip for urban competition,city image plays a decisive role in urban development.When a city has a negative image,it must be reshaped and reversed in time to prevent its negative impact as early as possible.Ordos,as an energy-based city that thrives on coal,the negative label of "the hometown of nouveau riche" has clearly decoupled from its prosperous economic level,which is not conducive to its urban transformation.This article explores the negative image of Ordos as the “hometown of nouveau riche” from the perspective of framework theory.First,it uses the reports of People's Daily and Ordos Daily as the research object to analyze how mainstream media has shaped the multidimensional image of Ordos.At the same time,the data on social media is selected as the research sample to study the role of social media in the formation of the negative image of Ordos.Secondly,this article uses the method of in-depth interviews to explore the audience's perception of the "hometown of nouveau riche" in Ordos.The study found that in the process of improving the negative image of the "hometown of nouveau riche",the media have problems such as the out-of-focus positioning of the city's image,the single traditional reporting method,the weak improvement of the negative image,and the low utilization rate of new media.The final study suggested that in order to promote the reshaping and backwashing of the image of the "hometown of nouveau riche",the media and relevant government departments should increase positive publicity,actively conduct public opinion guidance,and open up new media communication channels to reshape the image of the city.What's more important is to prevent the misunderstanding of the city from the roots through a healthy economic development method.In addition,the backwash of the negative image of the city requires the media to establish an effective propaganda framework to eliminate the stereotypes of the audience,actively learn from the negative image improvement strategies of other cities,and make efforts to reverse the image of the city.I hope that Ordos can adopt corresponding strategies to reshape an attractive,open and diversified city image through gradual improvements.I also hope that other cities with negative images can learn from the views and strategies put forward in this article to provide a way to reverse the negative image.Guidance and help.
