When the amount of traffic in the network exceed the capacity that the network can carry,the network is congested and the network throughput will decline.To solve this problem,people have proposed congestion control methods:When the network is congested,the sender no longer actively retransmits packets but throttle the sender according to the congestion control method,expecting the network congestion will be lifted,then the transmission rate will be restored.Congestion control is also used in data centers to limit the overall amount of traffic in the network.As the number of applications and traffic continues to grow,RDMA over Converged Ethernet v2(RoCEv2)has been deployed as the current hardware offloading solution in data center.The transmission method's change in the data center network has brought new challenges to data center network congestion control.To cope with high-capacity rate transmission,the data center adopts a new congestion control Architecture:Congestion control+PFC.This architecture Ensures the performance of RDMA network.However,this method has certain shortcomings,including slow convergence rate,network deadlock,and other problems.To solve these problems,we proposes an INT-based congestion management scheme.Our work has three main tasks:1)Improve PFC.This article uses the buffer information carried by INT to replace the original pause/resume mechanism of PFC.PFC uses a fixed threshold to decide to pause/resume upstream port,but this method is easy to decrease throughput and cause other problems.Therefore,the PFC algorithm is changed to make its flow control smoother.Improved PFC also can limit the buffer used in switches.2)New congestion control method.Most of the relating works used signals such as ECN to transmit congestion information,which included poor information and easily affected.Our work combines the improved PFC algorithm with the end-to-end algorithm.add the specific speed limit information of the improved PFC into the INT header for transmission.Thanks to the metadata pushed by the switch,our congestion control algorithm limits the speed more reasonable and fast.3)In addition to the core algorithm,congestion control will make judgments based on the redundant information collected by INT to eliminate PFC's interference to congestion control.At the same time,we use NS3 to conduct a simulation of the entire algorithm to verify its feasibility.
