The Presentation Of Enlightenment In Weekly Review And Its Communication Skills

"Weekly Review" is one of the most influential current political commentary newspapers during the May Fourth New Culture Movement.Founded by Chen Duxiu,Li Dazhao and others on December 22,1918,the purpose of the journal is to advocate axiom and oppose power.The first 25 issues of "Weekly Review" were edited by Chen Duxiu,and the critical works in this review have sharp points of view and bright enlightenment.The scope of the comments included the Paris Peace Conference,the domestic peace conference,the battle between the old and new ideas,the Qingdao issue,and the May 4th Movement.At the time,the enlightenment thoughts revealed in these works were of great significance to the advancement of social movements and the enlightenment of popular thought.This article uses the method of text research,taking the presentation of enlightenment ideas and its communication skills as the starting point,to comprehensively sort out the 184 review works in the 1-25 issue of "Weekly Review".First,this article introduces the life of the main author group of "Weekly Review".It is found that most of them have the experience of studying abroad and have received a systematic Western education.At the same time,a preliminary analysis of the object of the review of 184 review works revealed that the topics of these review works are mainly political and current events,and are mostly negative or neutral events.Secondly,through the initial screening,in-depth reading,table classification and the combination of subject and predicate terms,this article concludes that the enlightenment ideas of the 184 review works in "Weekly Review" are mainly presented in four aspects.First,advocate open use of reason: strive for freedom of thought,academia,and assembly;second,promote equality for all: reexamine the social status of women and labor;third,strongly doubt everything: oppose warlordism and imperialist power;fourth,Advocating knowledge:Attach importance to the development of education and the dissemination of scientific ideas.Later,based on the text,the article found that the review work of "Weekly Review" mainly used four kinds of communication skills to complement the content.These include: setting the agenda to guide public opinion;giving play to the leading role of opinion leaders;innovating the style of writing to be close to the people;improving the editing and layout to attract readers.Finally,this article discusses the historical contribution and practical value of "Weekly Review" from the ideological level and the news business level.
